What exactly do you want BE to do? What can he do between now and the end of the year that is realistic and will make you feel better about him firing Hewitt in the end? No flame just curious.

Get rid of Hewitt before the March 1st bonus hits.....and with the gap between tonight's game and the next one, this would be the perfect time to do it. Season ticket holders have dropped off, who knows if sponsors have, that is enough to show that the fans are fed up with the direction of the program. Not doing anything now will make things worse for the rest of the season and potentially next season, as more people will not renew their season tickets.

I have been watching basketball all day and the one thing that has really stuck out the most is that even mediocre teams make the "extra pass" to get someone an open jumper.
It is pathetic that we cannot get Holloway (or anyone for that matter) an open rhythm jumper after swinging the ball around the key. F^*k this.
Reflecting a bit I really feel bad for Bryon, Sherrod, and others having had to go through their upperclassman years in Hewitt's system.

I watched W&M and Towson. Towson looked like a better coached version of us despite the loss. W&M? Straightforward fundamental basketball. Which is why they do pretty well despite their limitations.

Miami/Notre Dame..enough said.

UMass/Rhode Island? Again not perfect, but obvious on what they were trying to do.

Again, Im 4 years into Hewitt and I have no clue most of the time what they are doing.

I've accepted and come to be at peace that this idiot of a coach will be here one more year.
Brad Edwards and Angel Cabrera don't give a shit about basketball, at least not enough to fire Hewitt.
Face it fellas, we are in love with a team in which the people who run it have no pride in our program and/or no power to do anything of substance.

1. Hewitt will be here one more year
2. Hewitt's lame duck year will deplete our recruiting efforts for the next coach
3. We will gamble with 3 or 4 coaches after Hewitt and all will be failures and 12 years from now, no one will even realize we have division 1 team

Now all this is worst case scenario, but if someone after the 2011 season told you that we would be where we are now, they would have said that our situation is also a worse case scenario. BE has said and done nothing to make me think otherwise. You would think that he would at least reassure fans/alumni with something about accountability. But he doesn't have to because not enough people care about Mason hoops.

George Mason Athletics is a place where people collect paychecks, nothing more. For them, Coach L era was an aberration that was nice to have but not necessary. There no visionary minds that have aspirations to do anything great, just keep the machine running and if we win, it'll be complete luck and not sustainable--- and they're okay with that. NO ONE OF POWER OR SUBSTANCE CARES. Not one person.

After seeing Lonergan having about the same record as Hewitt in 4 years, I began to have the "creep" of "they're just going to keep him one more year."

So I am right there with you now that no one at Mason really cares and we are doomed.

Also speaking of Pat's awful shooting, when he does make one of his 15 shots per game he stares down the other teams bench like he's some badass, shit pisses me off. He is become one of my least favorite kids on the team.
Holloway is dreadful. he needs to be benched for the remainder of the season...kid brings nothing.

We should be going after W&M's coach. Good, fundamental basketball.

Fortunately, I have a great life outside of Mason Hoops. Great job, great girl, great family and friends.

But Mason being in the situation its in and having no faith in BE to be able to do anything about it will always make a small part of my soul very empty.

I never felt like this in my 20 years as a Mason Fan. I don't need us to be Duke or Kentucky, I just want a competitive team that has a game plan suited for every game we play. I just want administrators who are competent and have a coherent plan for our future.

I love Mason. That school has allowed me to grow and have pride in the community I live. As Northern Virginians, we really don't have our own identity. We are lumped in with the entire DC area. I always felt as if Mason gave me as a Northern Virginian something to rally around and identify with uniquely.

Mason has the potential to be the jewel of Northern Virginia. All the talented IT, Intel, Scientists I recruit and hire everyday have degrees form Mason but never claim Mason as their school. No matter how well we do academically, Alumni will never feel that comradery they do when rooting for a successful bball or football program.

What you say is true. All of it.

Your statement about alumnis claiming thier school is definately an interesting and true fact.
UVA and Virginia Tech alumnis tend to proudly annouce that they went to UVA or Virginia Tech. Alumnis from the other universities in the state of Virginia tend to be soft spoken and even secretive about where they attended.

Does anyone seriously believe that Paul Hewitt won't be fired within 2 months?
I'm thinking maybe hes been hearing all the grumbling about his losses that he's just coasting right now becuase he see's the writing on the wall?

GIVING DAY 2023
...that was a lot of frustration to watch, but I noticed that they were in the lead the whole video and came out with a win. If GMU had a ton of turnovers, had trouble inbounding the ball, AND still won games, I think it would be a lot more bearable than what we have now.

See Year 1 under Hewitt :D

"Addressing whether the defeats are taking a toll on the team’s psyche, Hewitt said: 'You watch it, you check it, but I think our effort especially today was really good. I was concerned about effort in the first half of our last game [a 20-point loss at Saint Bonaventure], but we got back to doing what we do, playing hard.'”

How about playing smart, fundamentally sound basketball?

So, after we took the lead 29-28 in the beginning of the second half, I decided to go get dinner at longhorn steakhouse after seeing those commercials. I should not have watched the recording. Little did I know that would be our only lead. I think, from now on, if we ever get a lead, I am going to turn the game off and pretend we won
