This is quite possibly the stupidest argument that you have ever made. What player did Hewitt ever develop? How many similarly-talented players did you have to see him waste?

No. Biggest jump his senior year. Gotta look at more than points (which was a .1 ppg difference). Watch the games. He also won the conference’s most improved player award last year. On this, you have no leg to stand.
Yeah but most seniors especially ones who dream of the NBA make big leaps. The way I see it most of Paulsen's players have regressed.

Kier, Boyd, even Mar.

You can't have everything both ways. You can't make excuses for everything negative and give all the credit for something positive.

Ha. That’s rich coming from you.

I can’t give Paulsen some credit for coaching the conference’s award winner for most improved player?

You just said that Moore made his biggest jump sophomore year. Now you agree that it was senior year? You conceded that point pretty quick. Why don’t you just admit that you were wrong?

I never said his "biggest" jump was sophomore year. I said a big improvement happened under Hewitt's watch. My point is I think Moore would have improved regardless of the coach. He had an internal drive to get better.

My bad. Misread that. That’s on me.

However, I still don’t think making the argument that players would develop equally under Hewitt and Paulsen is an easily defensible position. I think we know that from all the talent that Hewitt squandered as coach here. Possibly the only player that came close to reaching his potential under Hewitt was Bryon Allen.

Just go back and look at how Shevon Thompson used to handle being doubled in the post and then look at the second half of his senior season and how he handled being doubled in the post and tell me that Hewitt can't teach the game of basketball.

I understand what your saying. But Shevon had very little basketball experience before he arrived at Mason. Everyone saw the upside and knew he was going to be a project. I'm not convinced DP is some kind of Wizard. Sometimes experience on its own helps you grow.

So just to get it straight, any improvement under Paulsen you attribute to the individual player and any regression is squarely a result of Paulsen not being able to coach? Do I have your theory correct?

I agree, I’m not convinced concinced about DP either. Let’s tell Bard.

Dear Bard

All mason basketball players are receding even though everyone say player have the upside. They were better under Hewitt, and somehow a guy like Mars has gotten worse as a freshmen.

Can you please let me know why Abraham tramsfferrd, and why Paulson keeps getting extensions? Also why do teems keep wining at Patriot Center?

Let's be clear.. the biggest difference between his freshman and sophomore year was that his freshman year he was playing behind/with BA and Sherrod, so scoring wasn't his primary role, and he was getting 22min per game as opposed to 30min per game his sophomore year. To me, those were the biggest reasons for his "improvement" in his second season. He always had the ability to get to the bucket at will.

Would love your examples of other coaches who turned around similar programs and who weren't handing out Adidas bags with $100K inside to recruits. Since you live in Richmond I guess you're comparing everything to vcu.

I'll hang up and listen.

Don't live in Richmond fake Gobo. Or should I call you Always Wrong Gobo.

Coaches who did successfull rebuilds?

Here are a few programs that have been turned around.

Collins - Northwestern
Wojo - Marquette
Hurely - Rhody
Coach L - Miami
Keatts - Uncw now at nc state and just be #2 duke
Andy Enfeld (sp) fl gulf coast...built that from dust
Maybe Illinois, Southern Illinois, Ga Tech??

Fake and Always Wrong Gobo, you know it can be done. Keep hope alive!

If he always had the ability to get to the bucket at will, what did Paulsen do then?

You don't coach rebounding. It's generally just an effort thing.

He took another swig of Mountain Dew and silently hoped he could recruit an A-10 level player.

Maybe its the fact that he is a competitor and wanted to play in the NBA.

But he didn't have that drive under Hewitt, who has sent numerous college players to the NBA. No it just so happened he wanted to go to NBA once Paulsen came here! How about that! Thanks for clearing that up!

Freshman Otis averaged 11.9 points
Sophomore Otis- 14.3 points
Paulsen was only able to squeeze 2.4 more points out of Otis. I mean it's respectful. Otis increased his average points per game by 20%

Freshman Moore. Averaged 3.9 points a game
Sophomore Moore- 9.5 points per game
That's 5.6 more points a game. Moore increased his average points per game by 143%

My point being again, stop acting like DP is the savior. He probably had influence on delevloling Moore. But Moore has always been a good player and it was clear he was improving his craft way before DP got here.

Otis started both years and marquise was 9th man his freshman year. What is so hard to grasp?
