GIVING DAY 2023
Strangely for a team with excellent guards, Bona has been one of the worst in the nation defending the 3.

That said, we are going to have to score a lot to keep up with these guys, who have owned us since we've been in the A-10.

It helps because school isn't back in session yet, so the Bona crowd won't be as hype as it usually is, but I will be impressed if we take this one on the road.

I don't see us winning this one. Dayton went in their and shot lights out from the 3. If we can do that, we'll have a chance, but that's really not our style, or one I'd like it to be. They are probably a better team than us, but we're not terribly far behind.

Their guard tandem is probably the best in the A10, but Livingston and Moore are in that conversation, as well. I would love love love a win here. Get some revenge for the losses they've handed us in the Hewitt era.

"SBU faces a much different Mason team than they've seen in the past tomorrow, but still should be favorites on their home floor. Mason is 11-4, and SBU is 3-0 vs. them since they came to the A10 despite the Patriots having never visited the RC. They're a very good rebounding team despite their extreme lack of size, and their four guard line up could give us issues...We did a Q and A with a fellow Mason blogger to give you some expert analysis on their club as well. Alan did a great job of providing us with a scout of their hot team which has won nine of their last ten games.

http://gomason.com/news/2017/1/6/me...in-road-swing-saturday-at-st-bonaventure.aspx:

"A LOOK AT THE BONNIES (9-5, 1-1 A-10)
St. Bonaventure was picked fifth out of 14 teams in the 2016-17 Atlantic 10 preseason poll. The Bonnies posted an 8-4 non-conference record and opened league play with an 89-77 win at UMass and a 90-74 home loss to league favorite Dayton. SBU ranks first in the A-10 and 24th nationally in scoring (84.4 ppg), but is 297th out of 351 teams in scoring defense (78.3 ppg). A-10 Player of the Year candidate Jaylen Adams leads the team and is third nationally in scoring (23.4 ppg). He also leads the cofnerence and is 18th nationally in assists/game (6.1) while shooting 40.5 percent from deep. He forms a potent duo with junior Matt Mobley, who ranks fourth in the A-10 in scoring (20.4 ppg) and shoots 41.4 percent from 3-point range. Mobley also grabs 6.4 rebounds per contest. Denzel Gregg chips in 12.6 ppg and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per contest for the Bonnies."

"Paulsen is a great coach. Had a good run at Bucknell, so it probably won't be long until Mason is in the upper half of the league. GMU has a really nice home arena, and they've had good fan support over the years, so if they can continue playing well under DP, they have the potential to be a premier program in the A10.

They were a solid add to the conference."

"bonaman2013....Agree on both your points on arena & Paulsen.

Saw a game there about 4 years ago with my grand kids & was very impressed. They had a drone flying around the crowd like a blimp pulling messages behind it. Great band also. Had a firework display after the game which we enjoyed walking to the parking lot since we won."

GIVING DAY 2023
Bona fans can afford to be kind because our program has been no threat to theirs.

Mutual hostilities don't start until we beat them once. Hopefully that is tomorrow.

http://giantkiller.co/2017/01/06/masongameday-george-mason-vs-st-bonaventure/:

"The contest will be a matchup between two of the best backcourt duos in the Atlantic 10, Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley of the Bonnies and Marquise Moore and Otis Livingston II of George Mason.

Together Adams and Mobley both bring in 20 points a game, half of their team’s scoring. In addition Adams is third best scorer in the NCAA at 23.4 points per game, which leads the Atlantic 10. The preseason John Wooden Award candidate also leads the league in assists and is second in three point field goals.

As a junior, he is the clear front-runner for Atlantic 10 Player of the Year."
