Great game for Mason. Davidson played really well and we had answer for them all night except for the end.

Hopefully, this will be the coming out game for Jenkins.

Just got home and saw the box score. I know JJ had a great game, but where was Thompson? Only took 3 shots but made two of them. No fouls, 7 rebounds. I assume he didn't play much? Why not?

Shevon is a terrible matchup defensively against a team that relies on spreading the floor and shooting 3s.

For long stretches tonight there was nobody on Davidson that he could cover.

Jenkins is a much better option when teams go small against us. Now that he seems to have his confidence back, he might be a better option period.

Thanks for the response. I didn't see any of the game, so I had no idea. I'm not sure I'd agree with Jenkins being a better option period. Why can't they be on the floor together more?

I'm just guessing here as I only listened off and on, but maybe because Jenkins was playing well? Also Davidson plays at a faster pace (and we must have to, given the number of points scored) and Jenkins probably is a better fit to that pace.

But I'd like to hear the opinions on this from people that actually saw or heard the whole game.

Edit: clearly I bow to Jim's analysis which I didn't see until I already posted the above response.

We need to look ourselves in the mirror and come to the fact that Shevon is not a good basketball player. He is athletic and his height allows him to pull down rebounds. His offensive skillset is below average. His defense is dare I say average. He is slow and doesn't have the basketball IQ.

I don't know how many more Coaches can come and try to teach him offensive moves and how to handle the basketball in the lane and in traffic with one or 2 people covering him.

I'm thinking DP will often go with the hot hand between Shevon and Jenkins moving forward.
