We let vcu play their game...two big runs in each half and then hold off the team during the rest of the 40 minutes.

They actually gave us some of our own medicine. Owned the paint, out rebounded us and got to the line more. We've only shot 7 FTs.

No one on TV mentioned it. But it's strange he was out so much.

Still glad I came. Worth the drive to see real Mason basketball again. Although I had a hell of a lot more fun at the Palestra.

I found the officiating extremely frustrating and definitely played into vcu's "style." But to suggest we lost for any reason other than rebounding is stupid.

Going to say it, Moore failed this game. He couldn't rebound like he usually does and let it get in his head. We had them close to the bonus in the first half at the 13 min mark and in the second he stopped attacking. Why, I have no idea.

Also on the fail list this game, Grayer. He was the vet guard going into this game and looked shook the entire time.

I think this team showed that they may be able to hang in the A10 this year. Baby steps, people...

Might be a problem for us the rest of conference play. We need another big to step up otherwise every team will follow this plan. Pack the paint to stop Moore and go at Jenkins to get him in foul trouble.

All that said. I still think this game was winnable and we should feel good going forward. vcu actually had more turnovers than us and we shot better from 3. Unfortunately, we took bad shots at crucial moments and gave up too many second chance points. If we rebound better we probably win or it's a very close loss.

Interested to see the final rebounding numbers. The whole "vcu struggles on the boards" scouting report did not pan out tonight unfortunately. Like Paulsen said, the team can't allow itself to get too high or low - plenty of ball to be played. Beat UMass and get the bad taste out of our mouths.

Disappointing night. Out rebounded. Poor officiating at crucial times gave the douchbags from vcu the edge. Gave up too many easy layups and Otis was their punk tonight. Sad to say that he played scared and very poorly. Hopefully he will learn from this. Ian Boyd on the other hand competed. Liked what I saw from him. Thought 7 - 11 in conference was attainable, we'll see how we respond on Wednesday night. One final thought..... FU to any GMU season ticket holders who sold their seats to vcu fans. I had to sit next to an absolute a** the entire night.
