Prairie View has played a tough schedule but they are very bad. Some numbers:
- 338th (out of 351) in offensive rating at 89.9 (we're 84th at 109.3)
- 342nd in defensive rating at 114.8 (we're 148th at 98.8)
- 339th in opponent free throw rate (we're 79th in free throw rate)
- 347th in total rebound rate at 41.8% (we're 15th in the country at 56.1%)
- 288th in turnover percentage
- 322nd in effective field goal %
They shoot 46% from 2 (which is awful) and 32% from three, which makes them the only team other than JMU we've played this year that's almost as bad at 3-point shooting as we are. This is similar to the Longwood game in that there's really not a reason to think Prairie View might win, except the eternal corollary that shit happens in college basketball.
Some other possible factors are that this is our first game in ten days and that PVAMU has played a tough schedule. In any case I'll expect us to have a massive advantage on the boards, get to the line frequently, and for PVAMU to have a tough time scoring. This is another game that will be more of a test of Dave's ability to keep the team focused than anything else.
