Bad/stubborn coaching unfortunately has a lot to do with it. Maybe if he was taught to box out the traditional way, he wouldn't be constantly playing with foul trouble.

I agree but he also doesn’t play smart, especially when he’s in foul trouble. So many of his fouls are ticky-tack reaches or grabs —like his 3rd foul 15 feet away from the basket —that don’t impact the play. Just once, it would be nice to see him exert his presence and knock a guy on his a** and get his money’s worth.
