This is part of a home and home game deal, so Penn State will come to Fairfax next season.

Penn State comes in with a 6-3 record (beat Wright State 72-50 yesterday), 5-1 at home and beat GW by a score of 74-68 on November 26th. The schedule is here: http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-baskbl/sched/psu-m-baskbl-sched.html

Stats are here: http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2016-2017/teamcume.html

Probably gonna be watching this game at Buffalo Billiards in Dupont if anyone's in the area. Still up in the air but it's looking more like that.

Can we pray for 6 in a row? Definitely possible it we're playing like we did against Mercer.

For games through 12/3/16, Penn State's 6'9" redshirt freshman forward Mike Watkins is 5th in D-I in blocked shots per game (3.67). He had 8 blocks & 9 rebounds in 20 minutes vs. Wright State.

Much like Mason- Penn State looks like they are rebuilding under Pat Chambers and has a lot of underclassmen. They have been making strides in recruiting from what I've seen and pulled quite a few recruits from the Philadelphia area as well as grabbing a guy from Paul VI. Where they are as a program is probably part of the reason why there was a match with Mason in terms of setting up a home and home, plus the ability to have alumni come to the return game in Fairfax.

Anyway, lets hope if Mason is up late by 3, they foul instead of letting someone take a last second three pointer :bricks:

Penn State has only lost one game at home (Albany) so far this year, and beat GW at GW. Mason will have to continue to play very well to win this game.

Pablo, didn't you go to PSU? Not questioning your fandom, more just curious.

You are correct! These games are not fun for me. Whenever Mason plays Penn State in sports, I always root for Mason. But, I don't feel badly when my alma mater invariably wins.

"11. George Mason Patriots (Avg: 10.00)

George Mason likely had the best week out of any team in the Atlantic 10. The Patriots won an improbable game on the road against Northern Iowa and was able to handle Mercer as well. Mason has won 5 in a row and has improved to 6-3 on the season. Things will be tough this week though as Mason plays at Penn State on Wednesday and at Pennsylvania on Saturday."

Good match-up with two teams that are riding a win streak -- 5-game (G Mas) and a 4-game (PSU)

Generally I think its smart for a team up by 3 to foul,

but is it the best move this year. Yes we have been rebounding well, but we are undersized.

I seen many instances where a team is up 3 and fouls send the guy to the line and he makes the first one. and then misses the 2nd and gets a rebound and scores.

just food for thought, but generally I am all for fouling, but hoping 4 guards can get a rebound is a lot to ask for.

Haha right... "invariably" But yeah I remember that game well. All we had to do was foul them at the end of regulation instead of letting them shoot the three and we would have won. I still don't know why coaches don't do that every time! I think there's mixed data on its effectiveness, but Paulsen has done it twice this season with success.

Never mind I know why you said this now. I was actually thinking Coach L used to always let them take 3s.

Not only didn't they foul, but Mike Morrison could have been in a better position to contest the shot.
