Duke and. Marquette make it tough.
Those are tough games, hopefully JMU continues their success and that one is as well. Otherwise, no - not a tough OOC. An average team goes 10-3 against our OOC.

I think it is coach speak, and I'm happy to see 3 tough games instead of just the one Power5 guarantee game. Also think it is likely about best we can do until we win more and get a better MTE with multiple quality opponents.

Hopefully he'll get back in shape. Clumsy might be a bit overstated, but I just wasn't overly impressed. Yeah, I know, one game.
Oh, I am not making excuses. On the contrary, I'm pissed that Tony and coaching staff let him subsist on Hostess Ho-Hos and Twinkies for two years.

Were they trying to turn him into William "The refrigerator" Perry?

He was all conference performer and dropped 29 points on all NBA defender in summer league using a plethora of moves. Why in the H-E-L-L would you let the center piece of this year's team come start the season in crappy condition??

Remember the Bullets' John Williams back into the day? This is how Williams suffered a season ending injury.

Stupid.
:bricks:

Start the 6'11 dude!!!

Jalen noticeably slimmed down during the season last year, more so than he appears now - I don’t think it is fair or appropriate to make declarations about a player and coaches without knowing whether his conditioning and fitness may have been impacted by things out of his control during the off season.

He still not at his ETSU playing weight.

Secondly, in comparison to Keyshawn Kelly who went from 300+ at UNLV to 235 at Mason in just a little under 1 summer..Mason staff did a remarkably underwhelming job to bring Haynes into season ready to play.

I honestly don't get this talk about Jalen being out of shape. The guy still is moving around the basket well, getting up and down the floor. In addition he has thrown down a few dunks.

FWIW his listed weight at ETSU was 255, at Mason its 265.

When we see him gasping for air going up and down the court like a previous center, then I think its fair to be concerned. But I don't believe anyone has mentioned or witnessed that.

And as far as comparing this to the Keyshawn Kelly (Hall) situation, that is just laughable. Not even close.

Wow! I screwed that up!! Lol.to reference a Charles Barkley quote.I don't think Amari Kelly and Keyshawn Hall got together and had a baby named Keyshawn Kelly..:D

Back on point, Haynes currently has absolutely no lateral quickness..I saw him struggle plenty of times last game to provide weak side defensive help or even block out his man on the defensive board.

How is this team going to press in the half court if he can hedge on the pick and roll and get back to cover the post?

Shaka is going to exploit that matchup early and often tonight unless Tony comes up with a way to cover up for that weakness.
