Agree with Paulsen 100%. No fans first semester and play vs not play at all is a no BRAINER. Let the kids play

It’s a harder decision than you think. One, do you isolate the players so they don’t bring back a potential infection into the rest of the university? And then how do you practically do that? Two, if an athlete tests positive, even if asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, they have to be quarantined for 14 days at least, which is going to mess with rosters and practice (Imagine having 4 players test positive? Imagine if all of your coaches test positive and can’t coach).

Imagine neither paulsen or I talking about anything you just posted above lol. All he said which I agree with was if it came down to season without fans vs no season at all he would want to play. I’m not sure he’s acting like a scientist or doctor and neither am I lol I’ll leave that to the exceptionally smart folks.

I think the smart and safe thing to do would be to delay the start of the season until January and then either delay the tournament by two months (extend it into May/June) or play a conference only season and play a 32 team tournament in March/April.

Right now, I don't think the end the semester at Thanksgiving plan is going to work. I think we're going to either have to go online halfway through or we'll never go to campus.

As a medical professional.....the kids should have more concern over STIs than COVID.

Maybe...I mean, Jamal Hartwell was already knocked out a month for a respiratory infection. You also have to remember a lot of these guys are going home to vulnerable families, to say nothing of the refs, the coaching staffs, their teachers, academics advisers, the food service workers, hotel staff, bus drivers, etc. they'll be interacting with during the season.

Friend works in the ICU, had to just put 3 30-year-old mothers on ventilators yesterday.

9 players either juniors or seniors on this team, you can win with that then I don’t want to hear anything other than his suitcase zipping up to leave.

I guess you are counting the walk ons too haha, but yeah, theres a lot of veteran guys on the team. No reason to not win a few games.

Daddy listed as a sophomore? Assuming that was just an AD screw up right?

Thats weird, unless he didn't qualify for a medical redshirt for whatever odd reason.

Lol yeah I am, just because average age stays for the NCAA would too. Even without them, we are old.

Understood- also I think the sophomore thing is just how Mark Le France has been categorizing the roster, its by academic year not NCAA year. Friend mentioned it to me.

Juniors and seniors of relevance:

Seniors: AJ, Greene, Calixte, Boyd
Juniors: Hartwell, Miller

Even if you're starting two sophomores -- XJ, Oduro -- that's a lot of experience coming off the bench. We better not have any second half breakdowns or inexplicable strings of unforced turnovers.

Agreed-and also a lot of minutes played between all these guys.

I mean, we'll have SOME, but we ought to have fewer than other teams, for sure.

It's absolutely a luxury to be able to bring in guys like Boyd and Calixte, who have been through the wars, in your second unit. That's how 3 point deficits become 3 point leads between 10 minutes remaining and 5 minutes remaining in the first half.

"I told our guys we found a way to win," head coach Dave Paulsen said. "We've been off for eight months and there's been a lot of uncertainty. That had an impact on our performance. We committed a ton of turnovers and made some poor decisions. There's a lot to teach from and a lot to learn from. But it says a lot about a team with how it handles adversity. We're ready to bounce back tomorrow." :bricks:

I'm not a Dave Paulsen's supporter, but I prefer a 1-point season opener victory over a good D-II program like Queens University of Charlotte than a victory over a D-I program like Maine. Let's see if Paulsen is correct that the Patriots are ready to bounce back vs. Belmont.
