Jim I brought a stat to you after you made a false claim about competition. Don’t be upset just own you’re wrong per usual when a stat is actually involved and not a positive gut feeling. I wouldn’t say I’ve been negative to Hartwell or kier either but whatever to fit your narrative.

You brought up a stat that includes Charlotte’s nonconference schedule. My point was the A-10 as a league offers significantly stronger competition than CUSA and this is obviously true. I don’t need to link to KenPom or Sagarin or Haslametrics for everyone to know it.

For the record, I'm not arguing with you about Young. Just making the point that competition matters in comparisons... Like how you and most others feel that Paulsen evaluating our players based on seeing them in practice is invalid because they are playing poor competition in practice. Like he scratches his head and wonders why Hartwell can rain 3s in practice over small defenders but can't do it over the tall guards on the better A10 teams.

You changed your argument from "competition doesn't matter" to "Young faced good competition."

You guys can argue about Young vs XJ all day. I've never watched him play. But I do like what I see from XJ and I'm glad we have him. I have better things to criticize Coach for than pointless comparisons of recruits we got vs. recruits we lost

If Oduro could play even a lick of defense I would probably admit that. Facts are he is 10x better offensively than I gave him credit for. But he is also a lot worse at defense for a 6 foot 8 dude that can't seem to clog the middle. AJ bails him and the guards out constantly.

Have to disagree here, Oduro has held his own vs better bigs in the conference. Does he get beat? Sure, he’s 19 and just growing into his body, but he’s not constantly lost out of position. He will be a haus in 2 years. He’s easily the best big DP landed. I’d argue that we need to see either Calixte or Oduro get 35 minutes one game, if they foul out then so be it. Let them build some confidence within a game.

AJ isn’t bailing out defenders, it’s now part of our rotation. We have built in rotations that allows AJ to freelance defensively as he shatters the block record this season. DP may have not reached this point with AJs growth as fast as we expected but I don’t think DP has coached a guy like AJ before. There was a learning curve, it’s refreshing to know that DP is coaching/adjusting to AJs skillsets on the defensive end. Sure, you can call it bailing out his team or it’s just playing really solid help side D. Every defender gets beat.

People constantly want to pin us one side or the other, but truth is we drive conversations while judging Paulsen constructively. This isn’t a 180, earlier this season, on our podcast, Bryan praised Paulsen for his job coaching OOC, especially in the Cayman Classic. AJ told us about DP letting him freelance on D after the Nebraska game, video is on our site. We have plenty of issues with him, but the truth is he isn’t going anywhere so instead of harping on why he should be fired, we’ll get back to hyping players and convincing recruits to come to Fairfax. I’ll never forget the Q&A with Hewitt at Brion’s where he pleaded with fans and GMUHoops to stop talking shit cause it scared recruits away, after his 3rd season. By George was born that night.

No one is taking our credentials, we have a great relationship with athletics. Plus, they can have them, would love to be a fan again.

I didn’t see the complete 180 but I know sometimes the tone of what By George is saying is a little different due to multiple people using one alias on the board. For the longest time I thought it was just Bryan.

Maybe you all should have different handles like By George-Bryan, By George-Chris, By George-Dom, etc. on here.
