I bought it. I wanted to buy it, and I respected what happened at Bucknell. I continued to buy it for several years.
We're enough years in that you HAVE to recognize that not one of the things mentioned in Pablos quote panned out (except academics? Do our transfers affect grad rates? Do our kids do well in the classroom?). But, yeah, that quote doesn't mention a squeaky-clean program with respectable kids. It mentions:
Recruiter: Middle or lower end of A10
Developer: A couple hits and a lot of strikeouts
Elite: not one meaningful postseason, ranking, top 3 finish, or Saturday A10 tourney game. No elite wins. No national respect.
Sustainable: doesn't look that way! Whenever we do achieve some success, we certainly don't sustain it. We do not appear at all to be positioned for future success.
Proven winner: losing record overall. Losing conference record. Embarrassing home record.
Outstanding basketball mind: subjective. Impossible to judge. But we've gotten to the point where commentators are sometimes flummoxed by his decisions and, in my estimation, an outstanding mind is partially defined by creativity. He has shown none.
Mr. Edwards, if you do read this stuff from us armchair ADs, your hire has not lived up to any of your own criteria for success. Don't listen to us. Listen to yourself. It looked like a great choice and turns out you were wrong. It happens.
