This is what football could look like at GMU

1. We would get squeezed by the Commanders, Ravens, Terrapins and to a much further extent but they still have a following in our region VA Tech for fan support, media coverage and money.
2. No guarantee the fans would come once the novelty of 1AA wore off. That's what we would start at. The basketball programs are starting to build up fan attendance and even they have a ways to go in terms of filling the building.
3. The locals defeated a cricket stadium/partnership thing which Gregory Washington botched. You don't think they would feel confident that they could defeat an 8500 seat stadium? (The 1AA Spiders football stadium holds 8400 so I used them as the comparable one). I'm very skeptical/pessimistic that Washington can execute ANY big on campus athletic project after the locals launched a William Wallace revolt.
Thank God at least the practice facility is somewhat progressing.
4. Football isn't the cash king or doesn't always work at every school. Old Dominion has had a choppy go of it.
5. Football would siphon away money from basketball. We're already kinda positioning ourselves/banking on operating in that same "space" the big east schools will be in once the House settlement clears and we can start paying players. We want all the resources we can get for them.
The 30m facility is still happening. Target is 2026.
Yes, I too will believe it when I see it. But shovels should be in the ground this summer until I hear otherwise.
30 million is a great level of commitment… I wonder if there’s some or any features that are comparable to that Liberty one. I know the Liberty one is a pro one but it would be cool if on some features we were comparable.
