There are university-private sector incubators on some campuses too, but they aren't exactly branded incubators.
To be more specific.. I had a conversation with the Senior Career Services Advisor at Princeton who focuses on athletics about 6 months ago, and asked her a similar question to what DJ3 asked. She said that they have been approached and are currently considering a "naming rights kind of arrangement" for Career Services.

I'm ahead of the times with my thinking.... hahah. I am not particularly saying that is the Path Mason should take. I am just wondering why I don't see it more often. Seems like easy money.

I would imagine companies would be interested in using Mason as well, largest university in VA, Reston is down the road. Some call Reston the East Coast Silicon Valley.

Say Google built a state of the art academic building, library, whatever it may be, it would be featured in every Mason marketing material to perspective students.

I agree, I'm sure very few of anyone care about sports like Tennis or Golf, but obviously the athletes and their families that compete in those sports do. In addition- with the trend of the program I agree that things should definitely improve from a revenue perspective.

Sigh, offseason discussions "suck", lol. This one has been beaten, so its almost time for the new scoreboard, mason hall of fame and Mason football discussions lol

New scoreboard isn't happening.

Mason hall of fame would be nice. I nominate George Evans, Lamar Butler, Andre Gaddy, Carlos Yates, Will Thomas, and Kenny Sanders.

Mason football. Will never happen in any of our lifetimes. Time to give it up, already.

What is Google's ROI on an academic building at George Mason? That's a question you should never have to answer.

Now, if Sergey Brin wants to donate a library to Mason, I'm sure the administration would listen, but why would Sergey Brin want to build a library at Mason?

And let's be clear, a career center is not an academic department, it doesn't conduct research, it doesn't generate patents or new knowledge, and it doesn't generate alumni who generate patents or new knowledge.

Dave back into politics again as he re-tweeted below - can't he just concentrate on winning us 20 games: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...4576dc0f39d_story.html?utm_term=.9980433db21b

Retweeting a link supporting civility could only be considered political under a Trump presidency. As someone who represents our university and serves as a model for the basketball team, I would hope Dave continues to make clear that civility and basic decency are important aspects of the culture he is establishing.

Well said psyclone - was formulating a response in my head but you put it better than I would've.

Not really related, but quick picture of Paulsen recruiting at an adidas AAU tournament when he was at Bucknell at 34:04. YouTube video on the DC Assault AAU.

Saw the OCM in there too sitting with Tony Shaver. I always forget about Shaver. Great coach who deserves to get out of Colonial Williamsburg.

I played AAU ball with his son growing up and thought coach Shaver would be a great fit for Mason after Hewitt. I imagine he's had some opportunities to take other jobs, but his family seems pretty happy in Williamsburg. I would think it would have to be a pretty big step up to entice him at this point.

Always enjoy catching up w/ @MasonMBB coach @PaulsenDave for @BlueRibbonSport ... he said Justin Kier improved significantly in offseason

Other Mull tweets related to Mason players

Paulsen's Bucknell teams ran offense thru their center but he's embraced small ball at Mason. Expect to see 5 guards on the floor at times

Paulsen also expects 6-7 freshman wing Goanar Mar to contribute from outset. He led DeLaSalle HS to four consecutive Minn. state titles.

  3. Brian Mull‏@BGMull Aug 4

Livingston II, Grayer, Kier, Boyd, Newman give Mason a strong group of returning guards. Need freshman Greg Calixte to deliver in post.

Kier started 29 games as a freshman for Mason, which won 20 games for the first time since 2012-13. He led the team in 3PFG pct (.386).

I thought Grayer led the team in 3pt shooting? Or was that only in league play? Interesting to note zero references to Relvao and Tamera.
