IMHO it’s the coach’s job to prepare the players properly in practice. It’s the players’ responsibility to take what they’ve been taught and apply it in games.
Jim, we're actually in agreement with this premise, and I've actually made that same case in the past. For some reason, though, there is a disconnect with a lot of the players between what is happening in practice and in games, so Dave and his staff need to find out what that is.
I equate it to students taking a test. If one or two fail it, that's on them; if a majority of the class fails, the teacher needs to find another way to get through to them. Dave is a smart dude, so I'm sure he'll find a way to make sure we start to play like we practice.
