That was so weird - I was watching the game with my son, who is trying to learn a lot more about the game, and he was like "Is there a zone where you have like 2 on the baseline, 2 in the middle, and one up top" and I said "I'm pretty sure you're describing a Box and 1. That's generally considered a junk defense." One or two possessions later, Mason went to that defense and the commentators started talking about it, asking questions about "What would you do as the Billikens coach trying to go against a junk defense." It was bizarre. I can't recall ever seeing Mason play that defense and they did minutes, or even seconds, after he asked about itGoing to the Box and 1 won the game today. Great coaching.
