Darrell Green Hired as Associate AD!

This was posted in January. Has anyone heard one word about Darrell and what he might be doing? My son is doing a camp going on at GMU/the fieldhouse this week, and when I went to pick him up today, I asked 3 athletic department staffers where his office was/if I could meet him, and all 3 said he did not have an office in the fieldhouse presently, and 1 said under his breath that no one has seen him in months.

Anyone know anything about this? I sure would love an update on what we're paying him for.

Untrue. I saw Green at the field house just before my interview with Kier and was recently in Green's office.

I checked on Mason's People finder and he is still listed as having an office in the Field House.

Given his role as a money raiser, I would expect that he would be away from the office schmoozing potential donors. However, I have no direct knowledge as to his comings and goings.

I remember hearing Brad Edwards say he doesn't want to see Greene on campus because that means he isn't out working.

That said, I have a feeling the hiring of Greene was an example of The Good Old Boys network helping a friend out. I hope I'm wrong. I just haven't heard of one success story yet. My opinion will change the second I hear of a success story

Pretty much nothing. It was a splashy move by Edwards to woo the fanbase and alumni and buy him some more "honeymoon" time.

Well, there is the Kathy McKay/Practice facility donation (250K) that is relatively recent. Don't know Green's role in that. She obviously has donated big sums before (e.g. Aquatic Center) but perhaps he spent time working with her on the Practice facility $$. Not a new donor, but still new money.

So Plink was wrong about this and now 1-4 on games.. but other posters call him reliable.. interesting

So, i'm not trying to start anything, and i'm not claiming to be a "source" or anything like that, i'm simply passing along what was told to me.

As far as game, I do believe I'll be proven correct on Louisville and Georgia Southern. I was wrong about Radford and came onto this board and said so. But as far as Louisville and Georgia Southern being on the schedule, i was told this by a member of the coaching staff. could the information change? Sure. But as far as i know it's correct.

As far as the Darrell Greene thing, again, i'm saying what a member of the AD staff told me this week. Who's to say that the person who contradicted me was correct? How does this person not know that, if he had a meeting/interview with Greene, they weren't set up in a office - not necessarily Greene's office?

Again, maybe he does have an office...i am not presenting myself as an oracle of GM Athletics, simply passing along what i hear. Take or it leave it at whatever value you choose to.

Very well thought out post and I apologize for being crass. But, @bygeorge is probably the most in the know on this board because of how much time and effort they do put in.

Here's his number (703) 993-2819. Try talking to him instead of some bitter employee. It worked for me.

The person I spoke with didn't seem bitter in the least. I also have no need to speak to Mr. Green, i'm just a fan of his from his days on the Redskins and was curious how much he's around/what the chances of stopping by and saying hello were.

I saw a GM Athletic employee who've I met in the past and asked if his office was nearby and he said no. Two other staffers confirmed this. The person who spoke under their breath wasn't doing it in a bitter way, but more of a "we're not supposed to talk about this" manner. Again, this was simply my interpretation of a 45 second discussion waiting for my son to finish up camp at the end of the day. I'm sure Mr. Green is doing fine work for our department, I was wondering if anyone here on the board might have had some insight.

Odd. We met in an office with his administrative assistant. Clueless employees, everyone was very nice.

Darrell Green only making $85k and no one knows where he is?

Sh*t we paid Paul Hewitt alot more money and he showed up every day and systematically destroyed our program.

Bravo Brad Edwards!!! That's smart management right there!

I don't know if the staff is bitter or not but I know for a fact, the non executive, non leadership positions' salaries at the Athletic department are not very competitive.

Not that they should be for the work they perform (I don't know) and your pay shouldn't determine your professional demeanor and work ethic, but you get what you pay for..........................

This is weak. Really weak.

You came on here and made innuendos. You got called out on it and now your response is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I have no idea if he's doing a great job, a mediocre job, or not doing the job at all but I am pretty sure that he's not a trained chimp required to entertain you and your child because you paid for a basketball camp.

Plink833 has owned when he has been wrong and has qualified his comments. He's not some secrative guy claiming to have info on deep background and trying to make himself look cool like P8 used to, he is just someone who is around the program and passes on what he hears.

I have no doubt Plink heard/was told what he claims - doesn't mean that what the information implied was true.

I would prefer to encourage people to share what they hear, while not presenting it as gospel (like the jerk who claimed Otis was injured, which proved to be a total fabrication), rather than attacking people who are just fans like the rest of us and are trying to share the info they have.

I wouldn't want to put the players in Jeopardy, but frankly I am kind of surprised an idiot hasn't asked a player about the rumored Louisville game through twitter player of the week.

I mean this is a message board. I take everything I read on this with a grain of salt. I like hearing updates from people who visit campus though or have some connections in the AD. I don't spend nights awake analyzing their posts, but it's good to read during the summer.
