English is taking the job. Will be interesting to see if Lamar winds up on staff.
So you would hire an assistant who is campaigning for his teammate to take the head coaching job? Sounds a bit awkward and a tough guy to trust.

Hell if you want someone with significant HC experience, go call Marcus Kahn from Mary Washington, Chad Dickman at Hood, or Josh Loeffler at Johns Hopkins.Yup. The "???" was for the third assistant. No good guesses on that one. Could be Lamar. Could be keeping an existing assistant. Could be Joey Freaking Rodriguez.

Same old Barnes today. This loss is on him. He can have winning seasons and that is all he wants to do. He has the ability to underachieve and has just about everywhere he has been. He has always gotten out the door for another job just before being told to leave other than Texas which fired him before he could get another school lined up. Tennessee should have let him go to UCLA without requiring a buyout. The wheels came off this wagon in January and were never put back on. That's on him. He has a guard oriented team that doesn't shoot the ball well from the outside; gets too far into the shot clock and then either has to drive the lane where the opponent is waiting or hurry up a shot from the outside. No go-to player like Schofield/Williams were when the team really needed a bucket! Send him to George Mason, where he was for one year and give the job to English!
AND...
Why not? Barnes should be fired. There is a reason Texas got rid if Barnes. Its called March Madness Failure. Barnes is not going to run a new offense, he just runs this terrible slow half court pass the ball until 22 seconds left & then shoot offense. He will not adjust his offense or coaching style to reach his players max potential.
Agreed lolI wouldn’t put too much stock in VN. Tennessee fans, and I’m one, make our posters like DJ3 look smart. (or at least slightly less dumb)
This is the fan base that ran off Schiano for Pruitt and Cuonzo Martin for Donnie Tyndall. Barnes isn’t perfect but Tennessee Basketball is not Kentucky or Kansas.

Then go get Chad Dickman. His teams put up a ton of points and he has a HOF name.Loeffler would be an interesting choice. He's had some success at Johns Hopkins. Problem with him is he’s a friend of Paulsen.
If English is the pick, I’d like to see him go after Russell Springmann as an Asst Head Coach. Both are from the Barnes coaching tree and even after that historic win yesterday, Springmann seems criminally underemployed as an ORU Assistant.
Kim English’s 3 point shooting percentage as a Senior at Missouri was almost 46%.
Hopefully he can evaluate and improve shooters just as well. I know 3 point shooting has been an issue for Mason.
I get the logic, but no. And in case I'm not clear, I mean HE77 NO!@CHRISTOPHER JAMES JOLLAY isn’t going to believe this is coming from me, but I think English should try to hire Ernie Nestor as an assistant. He has been very successful as an assistant everywhere he’s been and would provide a calm, experienced resource on the bench for a 32-year-old first-time head coach.

No. Already done the Patriot league.

fwiw, Langel is a MUCH better coach than Paulson. Colgate is one of the toughest places in the country to win, and Langel inherited a bad situation.
St. Joe’s made a spectacularly bad decision when they chose Lange ahead of Langel.
