Usually the bigger schools have a search firm that recruits for them. Maryland has one for the AD and its assumed theyre now being employed for the search in case Willard does leave. Turnkey I think is the name and they happened to have placed Buzz at A&M. Additionally, coaches lobbying for roles has become more accepted the last few years. Happens frequently in Football

From what I have heard/read, Duane is probably their top choice with Tony a close 2nd.

I don't know that but do know that they have reached out in case Willard leaves. Again, from what I have heard is that Duane, Tony, and Buzz are the top three right now. I had heard CKE but I think that person got him confused with CTS.

Well part of it is that Maryland has a search firm for the AD and it’s likely they’re employing the same one. So these coaches probably have ties OR Maryland already has a targeted coach lined up like Buzz and are just making randomized calls to make it seem like they did their due diligence. They caught shit with the Willard hire last time because it was a super contracted search
