GIVING DAY 2023
I remember this coming up somewhere in the 2015-2016 schedule thread (I think)and Masonfanatic mentioning logistics on it. Apparently a lot of times these tournaments setup "out of bracket" games as part of the tournament. Not sure how it might end up being that Mason could play Towson twice, but apparently this is fairly normal.

If someone wants to go searching thru that be my guest, I'm lazy.

The reason for doing this is that it still only counts as 1 game toward the NCAA scheduling limit. It's basically a loophole in the NCAA scheduling rules. That's how we were able to have 31 games on the schedule this season (27 regular season games plus 4 Charleston Classic games). And our guys need all the experience they can get. I'm happy with playing Towson twice if it means we get an extra game.

Mason pulls off an upset in the Charleston Classic and they looked good doing it! George Mason started the season very shaky but got up to curve really fast and the future does look bright. Ole Miss was in the NCAA tournament twice in the last three years and Mason stepped up and beat them. The next game will be a test but Mason fits into and belongs in the finals of the tournament. Go Mason!

Nice win, watched parts again on ESPN3 and was even more impressed the second time around. Hope they keep it going throughout this tourney and for the remainder of the season.

I was most impressed with the fact that Paulsen still had three TOs remaining at the end of the game...Imagine that!

Watching the replay myself right now. Seems the Mason games are shorter time wise so far with Paulsen at the helm. All those dumb TO's during the Hewitt era led to a lot of games way over 2 hours. (And mind numbing losses)

Speaking of our former coach, he's currently on MASN covering the GW-USF game.

Ok that was funny - but I hope we aren't always leaving that many at the end of the games especially if we need an adjustment half.

I think what's even more impressive is that we saw a double digit lead dwindle to 2 and Paulsen (or the players) didn't panic.

You are right...same thing happened today. OSU came back but the team hung in there and came away with the win. I like the fight in Paulsen and that is being imbued in the players. In the old days Hewitt would likely have been making faces and shrugging his shoulders on the sidelines. Paulsen rolls up the sleeves and tells the team what they need to do.

THIS IS REFRESHING!!!

I'm still new to Mason Basketball but They are a game team. I thought they would eat Colgate for dinner then play a tough game against Mercer which they did. Then they got some early season bracket busting going which is giving me the chills-love it. I thought it would be a little slower but this team has gathered up their strength and struck early. Lots to like about this team.

I love all the new blood who have all of a sudden popped up.

It's not like Mason beat Ole Miss then OK st and I instantly became a fan, I jumped on the bandwagon early and wrote about becoming a fan as more informed posters than you can attest to. I also correctly predicted an Ole Miss upset as well as an American pharaoh upset not an easy thing to put out there. I also came here early and in good faith and was welcomed by other board posters. So you may be a long time poster but please don't diss the new guys because you don't know.

I'm not dissing anyone. It was meant as a warm embrace.
