Nope just old men

If we want to better the program we need to start putting our money were our mouths are. 20 students seems low to me. Maybe we can get it to 40? If everyone here pitches in 26 bucks we can get more platooners on board.

Any direction towards helping the platoon is greatly appreciated. PM me.

No offense, but nobody paid jack squat for me to do anything while I was in college, and that was with one parent dead and the other one on disability. That's why I had a J-O-B and I commuted from home. Folks on this board shell out big time already for Patriot Club and season tickets to support this program.

Or give to the Patriot Club...

winning solves all..the fact they convinced 20 platoon members (or even the fact there are 20 platoon members) is a start, considering they have to travel 8 hours, etc. Lets hope they are freshman who will continue to be involved and the program goes upward..

Im not sure The Platoon gets any bball or athletic dept money or Patriot Club money. However, if someone within could explain their funding support I would like to learn more. I don't see anything wrong with helping our students travel 8 hrs to Charleston. Either way, its a win win for the team.

Walk-On
Yea i wish i would have had help when i was there. Worked on campus and had to beg my mom (who at the time was a single mom with 2 kids working 2 jobs) to loan me money for the 2006 tournament. The only reason that i was able to go was because it was a once in a life time opportunity. After that I was Gunston/The Patriot so i didn't have to worry about paying for any more trips (thankfully).

However, don't big time schools have alumni who pay/help pay for trips like this? Although, I'm surprised that admin isn't pitching in to help the cost. Do we know how much it is per student to attend this trip?

People are free to do what they wish with their money, I have no problem with that. If they wish to donate, that is fine. Just drop the "If we want to better the program we need to start putting our money were our mouths are." routine. We already do that in hefty amounts for scholarship support and attendance to games. It is not our collective responsibility to send X, Y, or Z person to a basketball game 8+ hours away.

It sounds to me like the bus itself is being subsidized - deposit to hold a spot but students get the money back. And they may be getting a discount on the hotel too...

$26 seems like an incredibly good deal for an overnight trip to Charleston.

As for the maximum number of spots, my guess is that has more to do with the hotel then it does the bus. And no one is being prevented from caravaning down on their own.

Anyone need tickets to the Charleston Classic? I bought 4 to the Mason sessions and now it looks like I can't go. Message me if you are interested.

I didn't realize our game at Towson on the 2nd is part of the Charleston Classic as a "non-bracketed" game:

scroll to the bottom of the page.

Does that mean that our game at Towson doesn't count against the NCAA game limit? The 3 games in Charleston only count as 1 against the limit. Does this mean we are really getting 4 games to count as 1?

Is Towson required to play at EBA (Eagle Bank Arena) next year?

Why do only 4 of the 8 teams play in a "non-bracketed" game?

What's the purpose of this? I just figured the schools had scheduled a game independent of the tournament. It appears there's good chance Mason plays Towson on Friday.

That is really strange, I'm not sure what that means. I assumed the game at Towson was just a standard home-away OOC agreement, and it's just a coincidence that we may play them in the Tournament.
