I hope Brad's first improvement is bandwidth on Gomason.com. Absolutely Awful. I missed 80% of the presser because of the lack of bandwidth.

Much ado about nothing in terms of the press conference. Lots of crap about academics coming before athletics, blah, blah, blah. Why can't we hire people to do the school work for them like UNC does, and just let our athletes focus on sports full time?

On a more serious note, this was a perfect example of our athletic department having no accountability with the media. Only three people asked questions, and I'm pretty sure one of them was Bill Rohland. Not one question was asked about our basketball program.

I texted P8 before the conference called and asked if any DC media was there (Dianna Russini, Kristen Berset, etc.). It didn't look like it from the pic I took from Twitter, but someone right after it was done rushed up to Brad with a big camera in hand to ask him questions.

One was Bill Rohland. No clue who the other guy was that asked several questions.

I am curious what Brad's 3-6 month plan entails.

Maybe Im misunderstanding something here, but the accountability factor....should that not come from internally in the AD? Shouldnt TOC now Edwards be holding people accountable?

I know being asked tough questions by reporters seems like something....but in reality it means nothing. You get nothing but coach speak about "coming around" or something and occasionally a Mike Singletary or Mike Gundy epic rant.

I don't understand what you are honestly expecting, the media to grill a guy who hasn't even officially started the job yet about Hewitt's one losing season here? This press conference was basically a formal meet-and-greet.

That pretty much sums it up. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I remember the press conference for Maryland's new AD a few years ago actually being televised on CSN with all kinds of media there. I didn't want to see him grilled about Hewitt, but I was hoping a general questions would have been posed about the program in general to hear his thoughts.

I do wish he would have elaborated more on his fundraising success at Jacksonville and his goals here, because his response was very general. Somehow we need to get more money from local businesses pumped into our athletic department.
