Crazy great game so far between the Bonnie’s and URI. Amazing atmosphere. Both teams are playing lights out.

31-29 Rhode with 3 minutes left in the first. Bonnie’s about to shoot 3 foul shots.

Interesting Mobley from the Bonnie’s only had one scholarship offer out of high school from central Connecticut state. Now a first team all A10 Caliber player.

The Bonnie's gym looks like my highschool's. No wonder Adam's brother chose to go to Rhode Island.

This is a very high level of talent and play I’m seeing on the floor right now by both teams.

This game is making the A10 look really good right now.

It was full and noisy. Unlike another place we frequent.

I hope URI and St Bonaventure both make it into the tournament, quality teams that deserve it.

It is dated and fits about 5,000. The place rocks for a big game though - as was evident tonight. I was at a game in the mid 90's and saw them play then A-10 member Rutgers. Rutgers certainly wasn't as good as this years Rhode Island team, but it was a huge game as the Bonnies were on the bubble. If I remember correctly, a kid from Lithuania caught fire from three and sunk the Bonnies that night. Place was rocking though - too bad the Bonnies went to the NIT.

I believe they nearly beat #1 UMass at home that same year. Also Buffalo Bills country - quite a crazy fan base there. Bonnie fans remind me of that base.

Went to a not so huge game last year as they played Mason. Not such an intense atmosphere. Seems like Mason has been able to get at least one win against each member of the A-10 since joining the league. Pretty sure they haven't beat the Bonnies though. I feel like I remember a Rhody win.

That was a big game. I wonder if it's always like that. The Green Machine makes up for any weak crowd we have.

If we were:

  • On the NCAA bubble
  • # 2 in the A10
  • Playing a top 25 team
  • On national television
  • At home
  • To a conference foe
Trust me, there would not one empty seat at EBA.

Attendance average this year;

Mason: 4,083
Bonnie’s: 3,879

And the Bonnies are are having a great year.

Basically, no, it’s not always like that.

Ok. A lot of places would be relatively full with those “ifs”. Those “ifs” rarely happen. I’ve followed G Mas basketball for many years and while the Patriot Center is a nice stand-alone facility, they don’t need, roughly, half the seats for hoops. Despite the large enrollment, students just don’t go. A capacity with a gym of about 5k would serve their “atmosphere” well.

Good gravy, seven or eight teams in the A-10 are going to end up with an 8 – 10 record. The A-10 Tourney is going to be quite a cluster-fuk. I just we hope that we have enough favorable tie-breakers to keep us out of a PIG.

The A10's OOC SOS this year is ranked #2 in the country!

A great OOC SOS and a down year for the A10 = where we are today.

The A10 is poised to make a nice comeback next year (hopefully).

Looks like we still have an outside chance at 3 teams, with St. B's RPI sneaking back up to 48. They are currently listed in the first 4 out and have quality wins over Buffalo (27), Syracuse (40), Vermont (52) and MD (58), with at least one more shot at RI (6):https://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/teams/rpi/STBON/st-bonaventure-bonnies

They have won four in a row and have 8 games remaining plus the conference tournament. If they can lose only 1 or 2 more games, win at home vs URI and make it to the finals, then lose in the finals they may get an at large. They would be at a minimum 12-3 over their last 15 with 5 top 60 wins.

For comparison, Miami's best wins are over 21, 41, 42, 59 and 68 (but they have only one loss to 50+ teams, while SB has 4 to 100+ teams).

If they lose in the finals to a team other than RI, that may give us 3 teams.

Best case scenario has been playing out with SBU tearing it up!

Here is what we need now for 3 teams - URI is in. Done deal. If SBU wins out till semi's, then they should be good too, and then either URI or SBU can withstand a loss in the semi's. Whichever team pulls off the upset in the semis' would then need to win the final as well to steal a 3rd spot.

Since a 3rd team getting the autobid would require URI and SBU losing, ideal scenario would be for the 4 or 5 seed to knock off URI in semi's and SBU in finals.
