A-10 Tourney: Game(s) Discussion Thread

FWIW, Will Wade already did that when he went to Chattanooga. The system he runs is 'Chaos'. Jamion Christian runs 'Mayhem' at Mt. St. Mary's:

After watching GW last night, I remembered they had two 5th yr seniors leave after last season. Mo Creek has been the key to their turnaround this year, but I wonder if they benefited from "addition by subtraction" in having Lasan Kromah transfer to UConn and David Pellam transfer to Memphis. What makes this weird is that both Kromah and Pellam are logging serious minutes for two top 20 teams. So its not like they don't have talent. Maybe they simply weren't a good fit with Lonergan, which makes what he did this season even more impressive.

When I came up with Chaos, I almost chose Anarchy (which is probably a closer description), but I thought Chaos had a better ring to it. And, since it is the same number of letters as Havoc, we could copy all of their promotions just by changing the word (and school specific stuff if present).

Yep, think of the possibilities. We can get the students to unfurl a huge flag with "Chaos lives here!" for the 2014-15 home opener ... and we'd be telling the truth!

Makes me sad we didn't get him. I always liked him. A few years back I went to Burlington, VT (great little town BTW) to see Mason's opener against Vermont. It was a great OT win for Mason, but he really got stuff done at VT and has wherever he's been for that matter. I did refrain from ordering a Lonergan burger at a local restaurant - could' bring myself to do that. Please tell me there is not a Hewitt sandwich at Brion's. If so - gotta get it off the menu. First step in cutting ties with him. Maybe Mason fans can't influence TOC this year, but what about Brion?

St Joe's did a good job attacking the defense, moving the ball, and going to the hoop. They were quite impressive.

St. Joe's provided a great template for beating vcu: protect the ball as much as possible, and don't let vcu get a lot of points in the open court. If you stop the Rams from scoring, they can't set up their press; and when you do score, it allows you to get back on defense. vcu is much more limited when forced to play a half-court game, especially with Melvin Johnson out after injured yesterday.

Stopping the other team from scoring is a pretty good template to beat any team.

Certainly better then our current template of allowing the other team to score.

They did what I've been begging for years for Mason to do against vcu: move to the open spots on the floor when the trap comes and pass out of the press. Four turnovers in the entire second half against vcu.

It was a great back and forth game and very close. I love being in a conference that has their championship game on CBS on Sunday -- maybe one day we can, you know, actually play in it.
