So, how did they look. They are at least good enough to beat W&M...
ODU played a solid game. They don't have any real size to speak of, so they would have no answer for Jalen or Gio. The were reasonably disciplined in their game. Six guys were in double figures, so they soread the ball around. They likely beat Asheville, but it would be close, to compare it to last night's Mason game. The reported attendance was ~4500, but there's no way. The crowd was really thin.

As for the popcorn, also meh. Almost too salty, pre-popped so not warm. And the bottom of my box had too many small, broken pieces, so it's like I was missing some. AND like at JMU, they didn't even fill up the container. What it it with arenas and popcorn these days?

Other than like CofC and Hofstra, you sorta have to be careful with CAA schools because they have some real drains in that conference that could impact ratings.

That said, those ratings are probably around the same as playing some AAC schools. I don’t think Tulane is much different numbers wise if I had to guess. I’d like mason to stick with conferences in the top 10 if possible for h/h, and I’m not sure where the CAA falls. They might be outside.

Was just thinking an AAC school I’d love to get on the H/H schedule is Temple. I know they haven’t been as good as in their A10 glory days but they are still a good brand name in college basketball, Philadelphia is day-trippable (especially if it’s on a weekend), and while they aren’t great they aren’t terrible (currently in Q2 road game territory).

Now they already schedule a bunch of A10 teams (they have the Big 5), plus they play UMass, Davidson, and URI this season so that either means they’d be open to it or they already schedule too many A10 teams to make it worthwhile (although UMass is leaving).

We also haven’t played Wichita State in a long time. Would be nice to get them back on the schedule. Would love to hold up a “too late” poster while beating them in EBA (for those who don’t know, that’s what Tony Skinn reportedly said to a Wichita State defender when he drained the go ahead 3 late in the Bracket Buster game against them in ‘06).

Data stolen from the GWU Hoops website

Here’s how the final OOC SOS ended up for the A10. While GW’s schedule is second-easiest in the entire country, it’s not like the rest of the league went out and challenged themselves outside of Dayton

47. Dayton
190. Saint Louis
205. UMass
217. La Salle
233. Duquesne
258. Richmond
266. Fordham
283. vcu
288. St. Joseph's
295. Davidson
314. St. Bonaventure
318. Rhode Island
332. George Mason
345. Loyola Chicago
363. GW

Average is around 182.5. Only Dayton is in the top half.

OOC record 9-4
I'd argue with 2 bad losses - Central Michigan and East Carolina; and
no upset wins - Duke and Marquette being the only possibilities

What is the effect on attendance? as determined by some measure of season ticket holders, walk up purchases and other pre-game individual sales (characterized by zip code of purchaser), free tickets and giveaways s total paid attendance

Since you are talking attendance, I'll assume you are referring to home games. Assuming it does negatively impact attendance, what is your suggestion to improve the SOS of our home games?
