GIVING DAY 2023
Based on what's been reported, they've been very selective with who they are reaching out to. Unless I'm mistaken, the only transfers we have been publicly linked to are Llewellyn, Freeman, and Sessoms (all PGs). Outside of transfers, the other reported targets/interest are JUCO PF Rashaun Agee, and 2022 PF Elvis Nnaji.

Obviously there's more activity going on behind the scenes, but just like with 2023 offers, selectiveness seems to be a trait with this staff when it comes to recruiting.
Also the recruiting process seems to unfold much more behind the scenes with guys in the portal versus HS kids. I’m quite sure Kim and the staff are having many conversations that will never get reported until it’s time for a commitment.

More names from bigger programs starting to hit the portal. Dontaie Allen from Kentucky and Devan Cambridge from Auburn. Both are 6'6" guards/wings.

Allen was the HS POY from Kentucky and a top 100 recruit, but hasn't seen the court much in two seasons and saw his minutes drop this past year. Would be a nice pickup if he's interested in going the Gaines route of a conference drop in exchange for a larger role.

Cambridge started 33 games for Auburn in the past 2 years, but has been more of a role player and also saw his minutes drop this year.

Another one is Adam Thistlewood out of CO State. Started 28 of 29 games as a Soph. and averaged 10.2 pts, which dropped slightly to 9.1 as a Jr. and plummeted 2.4 as a Senior. 6'6" wing who took in the range of 140 3-pt attempts his first three seasons and hit about 38% of them. Could be a poor-man's Schwartz.

Hellz yeah, offer 'em both. Nevada owes us one anyway for Trey Porter.

Devan is an Education Major, so credits can transfer.

Desmond was an Architectural Engineering major at Brown, who switched to a General Studies major (whatever the F that is) at Nevada. Mason has something called an Integrative Studies major as well as an Applied Sciences, so could probably make that work.

General studies looks like what we call Interdisciplinary Studies at ASU. It allows you you design your own degree basically by combining disciplines. At Nevada that means you combine two minors into one major.

Integrative Studies at Mason looks much more specific and not flexible in the same way.

Probably something you weren’t actually interested in, but there’s the information.

Nah, that's good info and appreciated. Despite the sarcastic tone, I was actually curious enough to click into the description and degree requirements for both Nevada's and Mason's programs.

But I'm still going to post this. All in love.

LOL. Hysterical.

On all seriousness.... the women at ASU are on a different playing field. 9's everywhere.

Rob Phinisee of Indiana (6'1", 187 lbs) has entered the portal. He's a Super Senior and former Team Captain using his Covid-year of eligibility.

4 Star Top 150 PG coming out of high school that started 29 of 32 games as a freshman, 40 of 54 his sophomore & junior years, and 0 of 25 as a senior and dealt w/some injuries. He's consistently had a 2-to-1 assist to turnover ratio during his college career.

He's a grad transfer who majored in Sports Marketing and Mason offers a MS in Sport and Recreation Studies.

Loyola, Md., guard Cam Spencer is in the portal. First-team All-Patriot selection this season, averaged 18.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and is a career 38.8% 3-point shooter.

Another high-quality PG on the move….wonder if there’s any mutual interest?

Victor Bailey Jr. of Tennessee just hit the portal. Was a top 100 player coming out of HS who saw his minutes drastically cut this past season.

Can be a bit of a defensive liability at times, but can get hit from the outside.

The Texas native was close with George Mason head coach Kim English during the coach’s two-year stint as an assistant coach at Tennessee. That could make the Patriots a potential landing spot for Bailey though the shooting guard will no doubt have plenty of options.

Coaches and teammates praised him for his selflessness and “team-first attitude.”

It is literally impossible to have too many guys like that when you are trying to build a program and winning culture.

Bailey also turns 24 in September. His and Cooper’s experience will be invaluable for our young guards.

Gotta believe the staff thinks Bailey can be much more productive than he showed this season at Tennessee if given more minutes, like Ticket did.
With Coop also returning where’s Bailey lineup? Is he coming off the bench splitting minutes?

Have to think this is shooting depth at the 2/3 for Gaines and Cooper. Maybe someone who can help if everyone else has off nights?
