Maine and Bryant are in the sub #330s of most rankings, why can't they at least pick schools in the 200-275 for christ sake?

My guess is those schools would ask for more money? If we had a larger buy-game budget, we'd probably bring in better schools.

Maine 320 Ken Pom and graduated only two good players from last year (have about 5 JUCO redshirts on roster)
Bryant 234 will have like 8-9 scholarship guys eligible to play next year because of redshirting for JUCO and transfers
JMU 311 return Matt Lewis (at least for now) but lost 2nd leading scorer Darius Banks to transfer. Team will be mostly soph and juniors. new coach could bring life back to that program.
ODU 171 return virtually everyone from last years team will have 2 seniors and like 5 juniors so experience won't be an issue.
BYU 13 changing of the guard for the Cougars as 29 year old TJ Haws is finally graduating as well as beastly Yoeli Childs. Always hard to judge the new transfers or guys returning from their missions but this will be a very tough game for us as BYU always competes even in down years. Should be closer to 30-35 KenPom next year if I were to guess.
Fresno St 157 Lost 4 of their top 5 players from last year. Have two new guys that will have to sit out from transferring and they also have two open spots still. They currently have 8 scholarship athletes eligible to compete next year. Robinson is a fun young prospect ad I will definitely tune into that game. Finished 7-11 in MWC next year

We need to add a little more beef. Would love two more games West Coast (Cal/Stanford or something). Fresno is far from every other D1 school in CA which is an issue especially how cheap we are with everything. 3 hour drive to San Fran. We are obviously going to schedule either Army/Navy/American etc which I don't mind. But this is a bit soft so far...

I have no doubt that Mason will do at least one Power 5 buy game that'll help pay for Bryant and Maine. I'd like to see a home and home setup with another good midmajor but we'll see.

My concern in such a pivotal year is that it'll be like this year where they start 12-1 and then get killed in the A10 again. With an experienced squad, lets hope they get some better quality games to balance out the buy games.

Id really love to see us take another west coast buy while we are out there, USC, UCLA, etc. 3 1-2 hour drive to LA so I wonder where if they are going to fly to SFO or LAX.

LAX is a cheaper to fly out of than SFO. So, I say fly into Fresno, charter down to L.A. and let's get that UCLA/USC money!

Don't be so sure. Some p5 schools are willing to now go on the road to collect a check from stronger p5 schools bc of the issues caused to their budgets by coronavirus. Which would presumably leave a bunch of sucky low mid majors willing to come to fairfax. maybe that's why we see bryant, maine, and I'm hearing possibly uncw on our schedule.

True. I should have said that I think Mason will try to do a buy game, but you're right.

UNCW would be fun, even if they will probably suck next season (they also have a new coach, hired from the Keatts tree, so who knows).

The positive is we vacation in Maine every year and a couple of U Maine girls give me a fantastic massage every year that includes my blackbearries. Maybe I can get get 'em to road trip down for the game if I can lose the wife that day.

Bad news is gonna be a whole Lotta pale white legs showing at Brions that day. Those cats NEVER wear anything other than shorts unless its 20 degrees or lower...

UMaine girls are not from Maine. They are from NY, CT and MA trying to "go somewhere off the beaten path" and be "cool" to their friends. That's why they tackle your blackberries. True Maine girls only go to community college and are more apt to peg you.

I will say UMaine is offering seats on the school jet BlackBear1 for this game. I might try to pay the fee to catch a ride down....

well I said I was cool with one of Army/Navy and American. Looks like I got two of them for my trouble. Hopefully they balance this out again. We cannot afford another season of 11th worst OOC SOS in the nation.... We are on the Fordham scheduling path.. dangerous waters

That's how you get to 18 wins.....Paulsen's retention number

It's autobid or nothing for NCAAs.

We win every OOC and BYU definitely we would be fine to get a bid. But that’s with literally like 0 slip ups and like 13 wins in A10. Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.

Lets hope Paulsen finds a way to play a BCS buy game or two to help the schedule out.

The out of conference does not leave much wiggle room in my opinion for error. At least at this point.

They will have to win almost every game and win 11+ games (minimum) in conference to have a chance (or prayer).

At this point I'm hoping for is close buy games. Wouldn't mind seeing us take games in Charlottesville or Blacksburg. Realistically I'd imagine we're going to take some Big 10/ Big 12 buy games in late December so we can be the tune up team before they go into conference play.

Even if you win every game.....they will say great win BYU...but RIGHT NOW...the rest is almost as laughable as last year. Take a buy game or 2 and get waxed...it's done.

And let's face it....unless you are heads and tails above like Dayton, you don't go unscathed in the the A10. Not going to happen.

I hope I'm wrong.....but I doubt it.
