But I wonder if the American views us as equals or lower than them. I'm sure there are stats that could prove both sides

The AAC is def > than A10 on name power alone (Cincy, Wichy, UConn, etc.)

If you had your choice, would you guys rather see A10 vs MWC or CUSA?

From a basketball perspective, MWC all the way. The Mountain West is a solid conference with some real historic programs and some recent success. The MWC is much closer peer than either the MVC or CUSA.

But the markets have to make sense. And I don't know if the markets in the Mountain West make much sense from an east coast perspective.

According to this, looks like the MWC/A10 Challenge is basically a done deal starting in 2020-21:

The San Diego State coach's statement seems misplaced to me. It's not like the PAC 12 teams they play will stop scheduling them...he now gets to schedule an A-10 team now instead of like Pepperdine or Sacramento State and get his team in front of the eyes of some pretty massive basketball markets like Philly, D.C., and New York City early in the season.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty arrogant also. They're a good program, but it's not like they're Gonzaga. Why belittle playing an extra game against a league that's consistently thought of as one of the best outside of the P5. One flight to the east coast every other year won't kill them.

One flight to the east coast every other year won't kill them.

It kind of did:
Two years ago, the Aztecs played at Loyola Chicago and lost an afternoon game. They rushed to the airport and flew to Los Angeles, then bused to campus. Three days later, they played at Grand Canyon and lost again – sending the season into a spiral that ultimately broke a six-year streak of NCAA Tournament appearances.

I'm not saying they shouldn't play in the challenge, but it does create some logistical challenges

They aren't on our OOC, but wanted to mention Cal-State Bakersfield. They are playing somebody called Antelope Valley today. Kudos to CSB for finding the most unique non-DI school name to play this season.

Denver gave K-State a run for their money tonight. For those with FiOS, it seems like ESPNs college sports overflow channels are picking up those games. Tonight's was on channel 821.

American was down 2 with 8 minutes left in the game. Northwestern is a top 50-ish team.

American went cold/ran out of gas in the end. They scored 6 points in the last 11 minutes of the game.

ehoops, as the resident Paulsen historian on this board, what the eff is happening?

No pride and emphasis on correctly playing defense. Its pack line or zone. You can't play straight up man with no help. Thats what THE VIRUS did stubbornly b/c he thought his recruits could cover on defense for his shortcomings while he screwed up the offense. Atleast DP's offense showed some signs of life tonight. But jesus, u gotta create the right kind of defense for the talent you have.
