Can anyone explain why his ranking dropped in the link above (bottom right graph) yesterday when he committed to Mason?

Anti mid-major recruiting bias.

Even when we were winning 20-plus games every season, most of our higher-ranked guys got docked a star when they signed with us.

I'm sure Goanar would still be a 4-star if he had signed with Minnesota. But as long as he plays like a 4-star, that's fine by me.

So does this mean we are out on AJ Wilson for the class of 16' or are we still going after him?
I think they'll pull his offer now, no need to make a Hewitt team full of SFs. I'm good with him not coming. Him holding out on our offer for a potential HM offer has high chance of transfer written all over him. I believe he also went to like 3 different high schools.

Yep, obviously he wasn't THAT impressed with Mason and he's still exploring his options. Not really interested in someone that doesn't have their heart fully into the school/program. Don't blame him for exploring his options and best of luck to him but Mason can't keep the door open forever.

From my Twitter stalking of Goanar he seems to have a great head on his shoulders. Glad Paulsen is getting kids with athletic talent that seem to be great kids as well.

Also saw he is a first generation immigrant, I hope all his paperwork is in order please lets not have any Mayimba issues.

for those interested here is a highlight reel. Looks like he can finish with both hands and can run the floor pretty well for his size. No jumps shots so he seems like a slasher and does his work down low. Pretty nice looking free throw stroke as well.

I saw some video of him last night where he hit a couple 3s, and his stroke looks sound, but yeah most of what I've seen of him is scoring around the basket.

Is he projected to play on the wing in college due to his lack of size, or has he actually played there in high school? I've mostly seen him listed as a PF.

Mike Muscala is from Minnesota. Dane Fischer also grew up in Minnesota.

There is only one D-1 basketball program in the state of Minnesota. The Twin Cities have a number of good players each year and they all can't go to the University of Minnesota. DP and Dane have actively recruited MN over the years...

Reported offers included Nebraska, Iowa State, Xavier, N. Iowa, South Dakota State and Richmond. It also appears that he was on the radar of most of the upper half of the Big Ten and Gonzaga as well...

Mar looks like a solid player and a nice first commitment in the 2017 class.

I just noticed that Goanar Mar's AAU team is sponsored by Adidas....Which coincidentally, so are we. I wonder if shoe company relationships come in to play at the A10 level?

He's definitely gonna be a wing at Mason, but he was probably categorized as a PF in HS because at 6-7 he spent a lot of time in the paint offensively.

Gotta love getting a kid who is known as a lockdown defender. Being able to shut down opposing wings will be a key to competing at the top of a quality league like the A-10.

Interesting. Guess I didn't realize or think about the fact that the Gophers are the only D-1 program in Minnesota.
