I'm still confused on the format of this tourney. Would we even play anyone from the other "division"?

We won't in Cancun, but in past years the Riviera teams (us) host two of the Mayan teams (Binghamton, Cal State Northridge, Montana State, and Southeast Missouri State) for home games before the tourney.

For instance Purdue played Georgia St and NJIT at home and then played Utah St and Auburn in Cancun. I would anticipate the same thing happening for us.

I just worry what the committee is going to say about our schedule next year if we are on the bubble... but my guess is we'll get the automatic bid and it won't matter.

only time will tell, but It appears the committee is starting to award the great season's of mid majors and exclude mediocre Power Conference teams.

According to the RPI Towson ended the season with a more impressive season then Penn State.

Seriously, we are one competent big guy away from being a very dangerous team in 2017-18. It will be interesting to see what Dave and the staff do about that, if anything.

Seriously, we are one competent big guy away from being a very dangerous team in 2017-18. It will be interesting to see what Dave and the staff do about that, if anything.

I have ZERO inside info on this, but I have to think Dave realizes how close we are to being an NCAA-caliber team and where the glaring hole in our roster will be next season.

Assuming we have at least one transfer -- I'm confident that is going to happen -- I can see the staff pursuing a grad transfer or somebody else who is immediately eligible to start at the 5.

Troy's older brother, Shane, is an intriguing possibility because his coach at North Texas just got fired. He's an athletic 6-8 who can play inside-out and will be a senior next year. He could potentially get a waiver to play somewhere else and not have to sit because of the coaching change.

We are still going to be a perimeter-oriented team, but to finish top 4 in the A-10 we'll need to at least have a 5 man who can keep defenses honest.

Yeah the rule is it's not automatic but don't guys often get waivers and are eligible right away in that situation?

I'd bet on fifth year transfer so it gives the staff a full year to recruit a 2018 guy.

Im looking forward to this odd but interesting tournament. having a couple teams come in to EBA that we might not see again seems really fun. even if they arent P5 teams, lets be honest. neither are we. At least we know we have Penn State coming to EBA this Nov or Dec.

Any news on if we are renewing the JMU deal?
I know we won't get ODU back on the schedule for a while due to the Porter transfer, but how about W&M? They used to bring a decent crowd (not like vcu, ODU or JMU).

Re: Porter and ODU - there will be no one on our team next year that Porter has likely ever met (coaches or players), no reason why we can't schedule them.

Re: next year's schedule - anyone know how the conference matchups will go? Trying to figure out if we have a game at Umass next year - have friends in Boston to visit.
