Reminds me of the team Mason had in 09-10, it'll probably be one of the youngest in the nation
Can't imagine there will be one younger.

We had one senior (Birdsong) and two juniors (Tate and Long) on that team, right?
With 10 Freshman and Sophomores on the roster, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the youngest team in the country.
Yeah that 09-10 team only had the one senior, and by that point birdsong lost a lot of his playing time. And I agree that it might be the youngest team in the nation, but hopefully they grow nicely together by the time the team is full of upperclassmen. I suspect they'll have a lot of the growing pains that team did.

Assuming staff wants to fill all 13 scholarship slots, we will likely have 11 freshmen and sophomores next season.
Ah, the joy of having no junior class. Thanks Obama ... uh, I mean, Hewitt.
Jim, we'd actually have a decent junior class next season if Porter and Jackson had stayed. I'm absolutely fine if he wants to bring in his own guys, but he also has to own that he chose to start from scratch with 10 freshmen over his first two years. He could have very easily balanced the classes with transfers, JUCOs and grad school transfers, but that doesn't appear to be his MO based on his time at Bucknell.
I sure hope there's a method to his madness and we do get some of the attrition you mentioned above, because he's looking at having all juniors and seniors in two years and having to repeat the cycle all over again the following year.
Jim, I'm a big fan of recruiting young players and grooming them over four years, but there's a lot to be said for adding some experience as well. Lonegran at GW is great at recruiting freshmen, but he elevated their program by bringing in guys like Creek and Armwood. I agree with you and Gemini that the cream will rise and we will face some roster defections. As much as we all want to laud this year's class, I would bet your nastiest, sweat-stained baseball cap that at least two of them will be gone in two years.
I think we're all vested in Dave and want to believe he will turn things around. But I also think it's fair game to analyze his recruiting strategy and long-term plan.
His strategy is fairly obvious. Whether it works or not won't be known for another 3-4 years, so not sure what there is to analyze.
While I like Lonergan and recognize the impact he's gotten from Armwood, Creek and Cavanaugh, it's not like he has set the world on fire.
He's his fifth year at GW and has been to the tournament once, losing to a mediocre Memphis team in the Round of 64.
He has won 57 percent of his games at GW, with two losing seasons, no A10 regular-season or tournament titles.
If DP's ledger doesn't look similar by the end of Year 5, I will be surprised. The guy is a winner and there's no reason he can't win at Mason.
Btw, has temara signed yet?
It seems that Shane Temara (Troy's brother) is lighting it up in the JUCO ranks right now. He is an athletic 6'8/6'9 forward; much like his younger brother, whose averaging 15pts/9rebs at Angelina College . If Bruno doesn't pan out, would Paulsen take a look at Shane who would have two years and come in with collegiate experience?
