This thread used to be fun. Now...not so much.

If team X beat us....do we really care they are winning or losing to anyone else?

Yeah, it seems so pointless now, KA.

Princeton has a road game at Rutgers tonight that would help, I guess. William and Mary managed to beat Rutgers somehow this year already.

Iona's schedule doesn't help much. Road games upcoming with Dayton and Northern Iowa--win obviously doesn't help much.

UNI has had some guys (e.g. Nate Buss) really step up recently that were invisible when they played us. That's going to be a very good win for us at the end of the year.

Must be nice to have a coach that can make adjustments...

Chank, vcu fans are starting to think the same thing about Shaka. And instead of looking at the results of that game negatively, maybe look at it that we beat the same UNI team that beat vcu. I know you're not high on our coach, but any of our players who give a damn can use that for inspiration when we play in Richmond.

My concern is that we have seemed to get worse since the UNI game. I am worried there's a real locker room issue. It makes me worry that we're a much less talented version of the 06-07 Wichita State team who started out the year nationally ranked and beating nationally ranked programs. Then there was some behind-the-scenes stuff and the team fell apart. Hopefully my pessimism is wrong and Mason comes back strong from this break. If that's the case, we've certainly seen that vcu is not unbeatable and it's nice to know we've beaten people who beat them.

This is what I hate about long layoffs in between games. How can any of us possibly know what's going on in the locker room? The only problem I see is guys losing playing time if they don't start playing well, and that's a good problem to have.

I don't know I'm right. I'm just not sure what you see that indicates there is a locker room problem. I think this break will do the team good from a mental, physical and team standpoint. It gives us a good chance to get everybody healthy and get in some much-needed practice time to work on the little things we've been doing wrong.

The Alredge situation has me worried. The Copes situation has me worried. Even the Okoloji situation has me worried (indefinite suspension?). These are clues skewing towards the locker room cancer side of the equation.

An amateur psychologist could look at our players' body language -- both on the floor and one the bench -- and imagine that there's not a lot of chemistry there.

But it could be as simple as we have a veteran team that had reasonably high expectations, but has mostly played badly to start the season.

Perhaps the guys -- coaches included -- are all just some combination of frustrated/disappointed/disillusioned.

I highly doubt we'd be discussing locker room issues if we had beaten Princeton and USF and had a 7-2 record right now.

I think there's something to this, Jim. And I do agree there seems to be some chemistry issues, much of which I attribute to no real senior leadership. At some point, Wright and Allen need to stake claim to this team. This is their last hurrah, and they know they aren't going to get any emotion from Johnny.

As for the body language, I'm in the camp with GSII that says play the guys who want to play hard and sit anybody's a** on the bench who is going through the motions (including the seniors).

Sorry Tom, I just don't buy anything you say about Hewitt. He himself has no fire, no in game coaching skill. He may used to have it, but he doesn't have it now. The eye test for the past three seasons is all I need to come to this conclusion.

It is not incumbent upon me to have faith in a man who has shown no progress in his stint at Mason. It HIS job to show progression, not regression and make me believe as a fan that he is the right man. You can come back and say be patient blah blah blag blah and that other crap you usually do, but I just don't see it.

If you look back at the threads when he was hired, I was excited, I was enthusiastic, I wanted him to if not win at least show me he had a coherent plan for this team. I was ready to be past the Coach L era.

And the way you bad mouth a man (Coach L) who took us to heights we've never dreamed of going to shows you are not being objective either and all of your opinions are based on making you feel better that he is gone.

I want to come back to this thread in a month and have you say "Chank, I told you so, I was right about Hewitt". I would LOVE that to happen, but it won't. Aceppt it Tom, Hewitt is NOT the right man. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not.
