The biggest game of the season is tomorrow.
This is the biggest game since Ohio State. You could make an argument for whatever that Richmond game where we were playing four a double bye on the last day of the season and shit the bed was, but I think this is bigger.

vcu will likely double-team Haynes and have three defenders in the paint when he touches the ball. Mason must have it's inside-out game well-oiled and tuned. Ball movement comes at a premium. Otherwise, we'll get hammered on the offensive end.
Assuming we can even get the ball across half court. I'm really worried about this game. A loss means any remaining hope we have is to run the table to the tournament final, and hope even a loss there is enough. But a lot of other things with other teams would have to fall into place.
On the other hand, just win.

vcu;s press is not the same as it used to be. I have seen other teams withstand it.

We have faced other aggressive defensive teams and have fared better than we used to. Our ball movement - even with spates of TOs -- looks better than what we had in the past.

I am worried that vcu will light it up from 3 point land. I have seen them struggle in a game and then explode with threes to loosen up post defense and then they go on a run and win.

This is a great time for Zach Anderson to have a big game. He’s been quiet lately but he should have some opportunities to knock down shots.

I’m also looking at our bench, particularly Gio and KD. If we are going to win, those two need to assert themselves. Gio will be a load for vcu’s frontcourt. If he can get through on some slip screens he will be impossible to stop.

Gio??? Hmmmmmmm... maybe.

As much as I like Gio, everyone knows he has soft hands and is often a smidge indecisive.

vcu forwards are rangy and lanky and will give Gio fits—unfortunately, gotta call it like it is.

That said... Gio, my man, keep the ball on your chest and go to the hole!

...that is all.

Gio and Haynes on the court at the same May work well this game. vcu will be doubling Haynes a lot tomorrow.

Yeah, Gio fumbles a lot. Grip the ball, don't bounce it or double pump. Just go up.

The biggest issue is the PG's are dropping pocket passes at his feet...You don't drop pocket passes in traffic to a Big where he has to reach down and get the ball in traffic..it getsc be stripped..alot of guards do it today but if there's no space then guard should shoot a layup..

We can win this game if we play great defense and get at least 55 points out of our starters. That means Haynes and Maddox have to have great games, and Newton, Anderson and O’Connor all have to contribute. If the latter four score a combined 16 points like they did against St. Joe’s, we’re in trouble.

Billups, KD, Begg and Gio have to chip in with at least 15 points. We somehow score 70, we win.

We’re acting like vcu is some amazing team. Mason has already played Duke and Marquette.

And Mason is much improved now. Im not saying it’s going to be easy, but I don’t want to act like vcu is God

Well, If this game wasn't important enough already .....

Lose this, AND don't win the A10 Tournament, it's the NIT for us.

Win this, AND don't win the A10 Tournament, we still have a chance.

Unfortunately, the same scenarios apply to the Richmond School of Art
