Goodbye Keyshawn Hall

"98. Keyshawn Hall

Former Team: George Mason (Atlantic 10) | New Team: UCF (Big 12)

National Championship Odds: George Mason NA | UCF +25000

While Keyshawn Hall is far better than this ranking indicates, there have been plenty of rumors surrounding some drama Hall has stirred up at George Mason. Some sources have mentioned a serious disconnection due to Hall's desires and the rest of the team. At the same time, there were reports he was playing up his ankle injury toward the end of the season to prepare himself to enter the portal in the offseason. While these are just rumors, they follow a pattern of Hall being a shaky locker room presence back to his days at UNLV. Nevertheless, he's a fantastic talent who will undoubtedly be a strong backcourt addition for UCF next season. If Johnny Dawkins can get him to focus for an entire season, he could be a massive steal at this ranking.

2023-24 Stats:
16.6 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 1.4 APG"

Props to Keyshawn. If there's any attitude left in him, Pearl will clean it up.
A bunch of my ole miss friends are upset they didn’t get him. Once I told them about his locker rooms issues they felt a ton better. Beard would have benched his a** for the season real quickly

I was really salty when he left us and rooted against him hard in the Big 12 tournament (thank you Kansas). That being said, I'm not going to let him make me hate Auburn and I would want the Wizards to use their 2nd round draft pick on him next year if possible.

Careful- him being in the nba leads to consequences for all of us, lol.

I noticed Keshawn didn't play in UCF's 1st game in the Basketball Crown tournament against Oregon State. Guess he quit on the team to focus on himself just like he did to us.
Which is why I wondered why Pearl would even want him. Two-year streak of bailing out when his team needs him most.

It will be interesting if he suits up at Crown this evening, or is he officially gone now?

personality wise, auburn has some weirdos but they all work their asses off and seem mostly unselfish. Key doesn't fit in any way shape or form other than talent

From what we've experienced and seen, Key is all about Key and only Key. I'm bitter about how he left Mason in the lurch in Feb/March last year. And now he's confirmed his flawed personality by refusing to play in Crown. F him. Until we experienced the real Key I liked him, but now, F him.

Looks like a repeat. Bradley had the same thing happen to them in their first NIT game but then changed his mind to play against us. Some talk during the GW Crown game of their "portal" guys choosing to play when Caputo convinced them that they would benefit from the exposure.

I don't get some of you guys. If you had a huge payday coming, would you risk injury? It's no different than prospective NFL players sitting out college bowl games — and those mean a helluva lot more than some bush-league tournament in Vegas nobody gives a shit about. I despise it, but I get it.

I hate that Hall quit on our team and don't really care for him personally, but I 100% understand why he is protecting himself. If schools really want to protect themselves from this happening, they should backload the last several payments and make the player forfeit the money if they refuse to play in all postseason games. Until then, smart players will always factor in the risk-reward of whether to suit up or not.

Right, it's time schools start treating these hired guns as full-time contract employees and have it in their contracts that they must play in any post-season games should the school make any tournaments.

If the kid doesn't want to participate after the regular season then you make amends on money they can earn or plainly don't sign the player.

If it's not in their contract, or they don't have one, then don't fault the kid for opting out in hopes of investing in theirselves for their futures. Football kids do it all the time for bowl games.

Simply, yes. The alternative being failing a commitment to your teammates, I’d rather risk suffering an injury to my body and wallet than to my pride. For one, this isn’t football (not that it would change my answer). Secondly, barring an extremely rare catastrophic injury, there’s no chance of any injury you pick up affecting you 6 months from now.
