Well, we're officially an above average A-10 program

Above .500=above average :)
Not exactly. The average record in the A10 for the 2018-19 conference season after 15 games is 7.42857142857143 wins to 7.57142857142857 losses. That is a 0.49523809523429 winning percentage, or slightly below .500

Then I got some advice from my former business partner that I'll never forget:

"What got you to where you are is not necessarily what will get you to the next step. Be prepared to change your approach/tactics if you want to grow to the next level."

So in basketball terms, you stopped doubling the post, you focused on defending the arc, and you saw your win percentage increase exponentially. #netgains

I mean.....
1) that's a perfect Pablo post.
2) How is that possible? Every game produces exactly 1 win and 1 loss, meaning every game is .500 net. Thus any accumulation of games must net .500. Your numbers MUST include a rounding error
3) To clarify, I'm talking about conference games only

Are we all squared on games played yet? We did used to have an unbalanced number of games played between teams.

Took a while, but we're there.

In the next 2 years, I'd like to solidify that, to clarify that its not just the result of a senior class that has logged heavy minutes/starts since they were freshmen. I don't need to contend for A-10 titles just yet, just consolidate gains.

If we can remain in the upper half of the A-10 next year, it seems like our team is set up for long term success.

All indications are that our freshmen class is looking good, and our sophomore class appears at least decent.

Our recruiting has been considered lackluster by many, but I'm sort of in the "results speak louder than stars" camp, and Paulsen has (for me) earned the benefit of the doubt for a little while.

What are you guys looking for in the near-ish future from the program?
On the court/Paulsen side of the program: being less slow out of the gate, both in games and for the OOC. We typically start slow to start the season, and we do it in big games as well. It’s a recipe to kill at-large chances every single year unless corrected.

Off the court/Brad side of the program: manage to increase the budget to the top four of the conference. Continue to invest in infrastructure. Would like to see some Robins Center-esque renovations to EBA but that’s a few years (and probably a tournament appearance) away from being reality.

It doesn't matter. Every conference game is played between 2 conference members, and as every game is net .500, then the conference is necessarily net .500.

.500 HAS to be average for conference games.

A few stats to consider:

71.5 points per game (217th in NCAA)
45.7 field goal percentage (111th)
33% from 3 (256th)
176 3's made this year (295th)
72.2 free throw % (116th)
546 free throws attempted (152nd)

Our skill level on the offensive end is going to have to improve if we hope to be an elite A10 team.

Defensively our 69.8 ppg allowed ranks us 134th.

MMM, I'd want to see all of those gross numbers pace adjusted.

Kenpom has us at 163 on O and 138 on D.

This basically is the key for us- don't turn the ball over and shoot better from 3 and we should be in the top 4 of the conference this year. its every game in conference. I caveat "in conference" because the conference is down this year. If we play a power 5 team, limiting turnovers and shooting well from 3 is only half the battle. But lets worry about that for mid-March.......

The goal is to win the A10. Next in my mind would be to be in the Top 4 each year. There we have a huge chance to get in to the tourney regardless of winning the A10 Tourney.
