I'm too lazy to look, but who else offered him?

Almost nobody. Only Central Connecticut State and Canisius.

You can chalk some of that up to the fact that he ran with a pretty loaded Albany City Rocks AAU team during the Nike EYBL season. Hard to land offers when coaches don't get to see what you can do. But it says something good about the kid that he was willing to challenge himself on the highest level instead of dominating for a lower-level squad.

I'm hopeful that Troy will have a great senior season and leave a bunch of D-I coaches wondering how they managed to miss him.

I know our system is very different from Havoc2 so the type of player we recruit is going to be different. The aggressive athletic player will be ranked higher due to fitting the profile of an NBA player. And I get that no one knows if a kid can play at the A10 level until he suits up. However, I have to admit that I am somewhat concerned that the art school in Richmond just signed an ESPN Top 100 and 4 star guy. Looks like fakeWW can recruit. Paulsen will have to be able to out coach fakeWW because we will not be winning based on the number of stars.

Say what we will about vcu, but they did grab the bull by the horns after their Final Four run. Also remember that Eric Copes was ESPN Top 100 and if I remember correctly, the #6 rated center in the nation coming out of Philly.

It's really not that much different than it was when we were right there with vcu at the top of the CAA -- they always have had higher-ranked guys than we have.

Even after the Final 4, the best we did (other than Copes, who was obviously way overrated) was several 3-star recruits. Our best players have all been underappreciated 2 stars. Didn't stop us from whipping vcu's a** a number of times.

Where Larranaga excelled was identifying underrated kids with the passion to work hard, then coaching them up once he got them on campus.

There are still several things none of these recruiting services can quantify: work ethic, intelligence, unselfishness, coachability. All of these characteristics contribute to success in a team sport like basketball.

Plus, DP knows better than anyone how his teams play the game and is smart enough to recruit guys who can do what he needs them to do.

Recruiting just for "stars" or "athleticism" is how you wind up with a nightmare roster full of misfit pieces like we had when the dumbass was coach.

The best example of a "diamond in the rough" on our current roster is Otis Livingston, who I predict will be a key piece of our rebuilding over the next 4 years and a guy we will all remember fondly for choosing Mason.

Despite being outsized by 5 inches and 35 pounds, Otis gave Isaiah Briscoe (UK recruit) all he could handle and was either the best or second-best player on the floor when Linden played Roselle Catholic.

Otis was overlooked because he doesn't have the explosive speed and athleticism most coaches demand from sub-6 footers. But the kid is a big-time gamer and we got really lucky to sign him.

As long as DP is here, many of our guys will have similar stories. The coach knows what he is looking for ... He ain't stargazing!

Tristan Thompson, Tim Thomas, "Tits" Teckford, etc. If your initials are TT pretty good chance you can flat out ball.

You obviously didn't see the team that consisted of Tina Turner, Tanya Tucker, Tommy Tune, Tony Tennille and Tiny Tim. They could put on a hell of a musical number but they couldn't rebound worth a f-ck.
