and, if the new coaching staff would want them back.

I MAY BE WRONG - but I thought that if you entered the portal you gave up your scholarship???

In a perfect world I'd say take 1 or 2 freshman - but in the portal era there is no guarantee that they will stick around if they don't get immediate playing time

Not to pile on the Kim hate pile, but with three of his Mason players still in the portal and two incoming Mason freshmen settling for lesser programs, it does seem fair to question if he’s the ace recruiter many of us presumed him to be.

And if I was a a Providence fan given that he’s brought four of his recruits to an even tougher conference, I think it would be fair for them to ask that same question. Time will tell.

Per on3: Transfer Portal's FAQ's:

Once a player enters the transfer portal, the program the athlete currently attends is no longer required to honor the player's scholarship. Even if a player enters the transfer portal and later withdraws their name, their current program is no longer obligated to honor their scholarship.

Take a look at the "defense" section of these highlights and tell me that doesn't scream "patriot pressure". This guy could be the perfect safety to apply full court pressure. He moves his feet really well for an almost 7-footer.

They’ve all been recruited over at this point…

If we need anyone else it’s one more experienced guard, and that’s only because we don’t know how many quality minutes we’re going to get out of Dinkins and Ball next year, and who knows if Kelly and Henry will complement each other if they play together. I heard Kelly could probably play spot minutes at the 4 if he has to.

But if Ball can give us a solid 10-12 and Dinkins can give us a solid 15-20 I’m comfortable with filling the rest of the spots with freshmen. We were originally brining in 4 anyway right?

Eight man rotation: Polite, Maddox, Billups, Hall, Henry; Kelly, Dinkins, Ball?

Getting real thin after the first seven still. We will see who else Skinn can get.

Totally fair. I was critiqued for the same thought. His best players were Paulsen’s holdovers.

But to play devils advocate, he was a young coach with very little experience. He will improve and create an identity as time goes on

Portal guys have had plenty of time to talk to new staff and recommit, if they even had that option. Can’t imagine any of the 3 will return.

For the remaining 3 spots, Id like to see 1-2 freshman to balance the classes and then best available option(s) for the remaining spots. Do think we need some at least one more shooter that can contribute some minutes next year.

Can’t play the way Tony says he wants to with 8. Even if it’s just for a few minutes here and there, we’re gonna need at least 10 rotation players or guys will be run into the ground by Christmas.

Completely agree. We need to find one more guard who can shoot in the portal. Problem is, so does everyone else.

Beyond that, I'm fine with using the last 1-2 spots on the best available freshmen.

Really like this signing. Very high upside and improved his efficiency numbers across the board from freshman to sophomore year. Fairly quick for his size and length and could be very good as the free safety in a 2-2-1 press. Bienvenue Nico!
