He's got the Lonnie Baxter type build. Hope he's ready to compete with some bigs in the A10. Will love seeing Nick, Dola, and Emmanuel play alongside each other on the block. Get another Gio-type of big who can provide serviceable minutes, a backup PG and a small forward who can score we should be good to go.

What worries me with Ellington is his performances against the better schools with better bigs. Just last year...

Totally fair concern, but I think it’s worth remembering that bigs usually take longer to adjust to higher-level competition. Guards tend to adapt quicker, while centers often need time to catch up physically and mentally.

Those games are tough to judge—he probably wasn’t fully prepared for that level, then went right back to facing lower comp, so it’s hard to get a clear read.

That said, I do have some questions from the film. Not much post work—mostly quick drop steps and dunks. But it’s highlight footage, so hard to say what kind of player he really is.

I’m with you though. he could be a great piece, but I hope there’s still room to bring in a proven big too.

If the numbers being tossed around are even remotely accurate, Mason may not be able to afford to add another big unless it’s a high upside guy who needs development.

It appears to me that the P4+ is scooping up any and all good players 6'5" and above. Gone soon may be the days where a 6'1" PG lands a scholarship and gets any meaningful playing time. It also may not be long before every player in the P4+ is 6'7 or taller. Either that or one would have to be able to shoot the lights out from 3. All the size and talent filters up. Everyone else has to find ways to keep players around for reasons other than $$$. What are those ways and reasons? I don't have any suggestions. SMH

My hope is that NIL becomes regulated, legitimized, and qualified as opposed to simply handing players sacks full of cash for doing nothing but playing ball.

2) bring guys from lower conferences who are working their way up in the NIL funding,
i.e. $85k is a lot when last year you got $0,
and do well and you can transfer up to a higher paying program next season

I’m wondering how HS prospects costs in comparison to transfers?

I would think younger, less developed, not proven high school players would be cheaper?
