Lol you posted it two days ago. We went from number one to outside the top 7 in two days? Sounds like another poster on here’s logic.

Another one with small brain. Read between the lines or pound sand.

Negative. The situation changed. Try and keep up.

Lol you can try to say stuff like that and “read between the lines” all day to make yourself sound smart, but at the end of the day there is no way we went from his preferred choice to outside the top 7 and you know it. It was a bad take and you were wrong. What other explanation do you have?

See iowa st for example. Not in top 10. Then in top 7. Hopefully this helps.

Lol so your explanation is “things change”?

Odd way of saying you were so very wrong.

Hard to say I was wrong when I'd be lying. I'm not gonna talk about Justin's thinking process in a public forum but I can tell you this is hell on our staff. They did alot for his benefit. He needs to buck up and go to Ann Arbor already.

What, our staff did the work advocating for him to get a 5th year so he should be stuck
here? Maybe if our staff was better at their jobs he wouldn’t have put his name in the portal to begin with.

Not trying to pick a fight, but if our coaches were not good at their jobs, Kier never would have played at Mason in the first place. He would’ve ended up at Radford or Campbell and people would’ve asked how we missed out on such a talent.

He played public HS ball in the Shenandoah Valley and for an off the beaten path AAU team. The D-I school literally in his back yard didn’t think he was worthy of a scholarship.

Four years later, he is being sought after by a group of high majors to come in and play right away.

DP, Simpkins, Fischer and Kelly DID do a lot for Justin by giving him a chance to play in the A-10 and working with him day after day to develop from a “scrawny kid from Grottoes” into our best player and a second-team all-A10 selection.

I’ve gone round and round about it over the past few days, feeling like maybe Kier owes his teammates and coaches enough loyalty to stick it out and help make the most of a very important season. I’m sure Dave and Duane are feeling particularly gutted right now.

But the reality is, Kier’s going to do what he thinks is best for himself and his family, just like we all do. As much as I’d like to privately begrudge him for that, I can’t.

Unpopular take maybe, but I almost wish Justin hadn't received the additional year and we were instead celebrating him signing a pro contract somewhere.

I don't generally begrudge transfers, but this case feels different. For two years we've heard how JK was the leader on and off the court of this team and clearly the plan going into this last season was to make him the primary focus. Now after a year of having a front row seat watching his team get outmanned he makes the decision to walk away and go spend a year on a P5 team versus making amends for a lost senior season and finishing things with a senior-laden group. Again, I get most players doing that, but not the unquestioned leader of the group...

Nonetheless, time to move on. Hope he made the right decision and hope we fill the open spot with a nice recruit.

To be clear for my take on Kier leaving, I don't fault him at all. He had an opportunity to potentially better himself and put his family in a better situation and he took it, I don't blame him. I would have done the exact same thing. At the same time, I do wish that our staff was able to convince him to stay, or to have the program in such a place that he would have at least further considered the idea that staying in FFX for one more year would not have hindered his career aspirations.

This idea of loyalty to schools in college sports is dying, and for good reason. After decades of no loyalty from schools to players, the power dynamic is finally starting to shift in the other direction. Coaches are going to have to start living up to some of the things they promise these kids when they make those visits in highschool.

Is him going to Mich etc, and avg 3 pts per gonna be anymore beneficial to his pro stock than staying here avg 17ppg? Imo, unless he make a splash, it's a lateral move. If pro scouts Thought he was good enough to play in Europe that's where he would be but hes not. Reality check comth.

While I agree with some of what you are saying, how is he putting his family in a better situation? I have heard many people on here say, "if you can play, they will find you" when talking about playing at the next level. If you are talking about these schools offering something that Mason can't or won't offer, then I could get on board with that. When he ends up at a P5 school, he will be doing it because he wants to play in front of larger crowds, play more meaningful basketball, or because Juwan/Michigan is offering him more than the others. I have no issue with him wanting to leave so that he can showcase his skills in front of more people but let's stop pretending that he is doing this to help his family, unless something shady is going on. He gave us 3 good years, represented himself and Mason well, and deserves a chance to play in March.

If he believes that he is increasing his earning potential by spending a year at a P5, whether that is true or not, then it would be putting his family in a better situation. If he averages 18 ppg in one last season at Mason then that's great, he'll play low Euro ball. If he does it at a P5, he's guaranteed high Euro ball at the minimum, and will probably get some workouts for the NBA/G League.

Not saying it's going to happen at all, but I think you look at it in terms of potential.

He was gonna go pro, and if you’re as clued into this situation as you say you are, you know the combination of his foot injury and the pandemic made that impossible. Hard to land a pro contract in Europe when you can’t work out for anyone and prove you are healthy.

See now this makes logical sense. Get out of here with your logic, we don't do that here.

From everything I heard he went back and forth a million times on whether he even wanted to apply for the medical redshirt. He was looking to start getting paid to play ball and as someone who also grew up without a pot to piss in, I certainly can’t blame him for that.

If it wasn’t for the virus, he wouldn’t be playing another year of college basketball for Mason or anyone else.

Are you claiming to know his thought process in deciding which school he’s going to play for next?
