Paulsen had better be a good judge of talent. If his first two recruiting classes are busts, then he will be a bust. Not a criticism, just stating the obvious. His next two classes will be much smaller so these guys will be Mason basketball for the next few years.
Disagree with this, that was never the key to his success at Bucknell. This isn't Hewitt where we are hoping to get high rated recruits that mask any real coaching deficiencies. It's a process with Paulsen and I doubt he has a short lease here. I'm less interested in recruiting classes and more focused on the program's vision and competitiveness on the court each night.
Dave Paulsen: "Recruiting is the lifeblood of any college basketball program." - http://gmuhoops.co/2015/04/01/dave-paulsen-introduced-at-george-mason/#sthash.0WHrvjlZ.dpbs.
Great quote. Not a DI coach who will disagree, what your point?
This might relate to that one Bison fan saying Paulsen likes to recruit SGs and convert them to PGs.Does anyone know if he was recruited as a SG or PG? From the highlight videos it looks like he has pretty court vision and handles.
We're going to have 6 shootings guards on this team next season that includes Moore as a shooting guard and excludes Otis (who will strictly play the 1 I'm sure) and Abram (who will probably back up Grayer strictly at the 3 and maybe play some 4 if we're going "small").
It'll be interesting over the next few years to see who sticks and who transfers.
Good point, may create a survival of the fittest scenario, where after next year or the year after we see one or 2 of those guys transfer out. Although, given who we have in the post for the next two years at this point, I can see us going with a 4 guard lineup, so there may be more minutes available for guards then usual.
