I get it. The risk of allocating funds toward a prospect coming off an injury.

Can he produce at expected levels coming off an acl?

He was with Tony at Seton Hall. With him at Maryland. He was coming to Mason last year before his injury.

...and that's not all. We won a championship last year with a guard from Episcopal HS in Bellaire TX on the roster, so it makes some sense to ensure we replace them with another one.

Jeff Ermann, who covers Maryland, said Long would’ve been the Terps’ best guard off the bench last season if he hadn’t hurt his knee. That was a Sweet 16 team, if you recall.

The familiarity with Tony is a nice bonus, especially since we’re only bringing back 2 guys next season.

It’s not a move that will win you any offseason championships on social media, but that has never really been Mason’s thing anyhow.

I love all our guys and I'm a recruiting nut so I welcome Jahari with open arms.

My concern is that he is coming off an injury so he hasn't been in a game in 2 years. Yes, he played at UMD and Seton Hall, yes Tony knows him. So I'm sure he checked him out and made sure he would be good to go. Full confidence.

Until he hits the floor, he feels like a bit of an unknown to what he can actually produce. Its a little bit of a higher risk here. That said, assuming he is healthy, I expect him to be a key contributor for us and all will be fine with him.

Long won't start. That makes the risk minimal to me. Guy who knows the system Tony will want to run and will provide a sparkplug off the bench. We ride.

Watching the highlights above I like how Long can drive and dish. Also can shoot from deep as needed.

He’s not a point guard but he may be able to do a few mins here and there. He should be a nice piece to the puzzle.
