The young man looks great but you all are "counting your chickens" before he is at Mason. I have talked to many coaches and athletic directors and they all said that nothing is certain until the student shows up and attends class. I hope that this young man does come to Mason and is very successful.

It's very, very, very rare for someone to decommit unless the coach leaves. Transferring after his first year, however...

Mason fans know recruits that aren't cut out for the A10. We've also seen what it takes to be successful. I think Dinkins has high probability of being part of the latter.

A few after Hewitt was fired...Eric Lockett was one. Then there was the whole Therence Mayimba saga.

JUCO transfer Steven Bonner failed to gain admission in 2001. Ahmad Gilbert decommitted after Hewitt was fired.

A few after Hewitt was fired...Eric Lockett was one. Then there was the whole Therence Mayimba saga.

Eric Lockett was here his freshman year. Played a little bit but then took a medical Redshirt. Therence was enrolled for a couple of years but was never cleared to play by the NCAA.

Both Lockett and Mayimba came to campus, though. Lockett got hurt and red-shirt his freshman year and then transferred. Mayimba sat out waiting for the NCAA.

The names already mentioned and also CJ Jackson who didn’t come after Hewitt was let go and went to Ohio State.

It’ll be interesting to see with the guys English recruits as freshmen on how many of them look ready for D1 ball or need some adjusting. Usually we are so used to guys who need some time to adjust, but if he truly is recruiting the borderline BCS players or BCS players, there may be some that look very ready.

Dinkins seems like he’s a BCS player judging from his offer sheet, so I’ll be very intrigued at how he looks from the get go.
