Love Austin, but I have zero expectation of any player returning ever again until it is an absolute certainty.Austin Ball seems loyal could he be the next?
I believe this statement to be 100% true, as i feel the same way, and it is 1000% sadLove Austin, but I have zero expectation of any player returning ever again until it is an absolute certainty.
Or local high schools. I'll tell you, watching your local team win a state championship at the Vines Center at Liberty U. (Brunswick County Bulldogs with Bryant Stith, or Altavista Colonels) was awesome!I believe this statement to be 100% true, as i feel the same way, and it is 1000% sad
with the transfer portal and NIL we now have free agency in college basketball
although the student athletes are wearing the school jerseys - some are in fact playing for themselves, their next school that will offer them more NIL money
I think I will go see Div II UDC play in the fall as well as Div III Catholic U and Galludet, as i hope NIL money hasn't affected them - yet
"First it was Jared Billups and Darius Maddox. Now, Woody Newton is joining that list as the Oklahoma State transfer is set to return to the Patriots next season. |
Newton was one of just three members of last year’s team to appear in all 32 games for the Green & Gold. He averaged just shy of 20 minutes a game, scoring 5.8 points per game, 3.9 rebounds and nearly a steal a game." |
Right, even with transfers out we start the 24-25 season with a core of returning veterans to build around. Would expect the floor and ceiling of next season’s team to be significantly higher since it’s not throwing together a completely new team in one offseason.I'll repeat myself - targeting guys like Billups/Maddox/Newton who 1) have at least 2 years left 2) want the opportunity to play in the DMV and 3) have experience at a previous stop whether high or lower level, are the best bets going forward.
Happy to have those 3, and hopefully we can find similar guys going forward who want to spend at least 2 years in Fairfax.
We should also benefit from having Haynes be part of practices for a full year. He should step right in and know what's expected.Right, even with transfers out we start the 24-25 season with a core of returning veterans to build around. Somehow, I was thinking that redshirts could practice but not travel or play in games. We should also benefit from having Haynes be part of practices for a full year. He should step right in and know what's expected.
I love the make up of this team, but I really want to see a PG committed soonCore is there! Lot of role players and more bigs! Get a PG and team will be better than last year. Get a PG and at least one more shooter and they will definitely be better than last year.
However don't expect media to eat them up no matter what they pick up. It will have to be proven on the court. I fully expect if they land a PG they will finish top 4, and i'm sure many of you will say thats nuts but it's what I think and I'm sticking to it.
Completely agree. This Quigley kid seems to be special but who knows. It’s an important role and we definitely need a stud to have any sort of special season.I’ll withhold judgement on the roster until we’re actually doing building it. I’ll just say I can’t remember too many teams that finished top 3 in the league without having one of the top 3-5 PGs, so we’ve got a very big hole to fill. Hopefully we’re selling folks on the minutes available, I’d hate to waste Maddox last season.
