Man I was there was and had a perma smile
on my face the whole time.

This presser was different than all the previous ones I’ve been to at Mason. This felt real. The aura of confidence and success that coach Skinn exudes is palpable.

I cannot wait to see the development of Skinn as a coach run parallel to the development of this program into a perennial contender.

Everyone should be very happy about the future of this program. We are in good hands.

After wrapping up on the stage and the usual glad-handing afterwards, it looked like Tony had a few individual tv interview sit-downs. No doubt for later broadcast. But no generic press conference with many people getting Q & As, like you might get in post-game pressers,

What was up with Dr. W intro of Nena? Was he trying to get her take the AD position?

This was a bit odd. It was like he wanted to refer to her as AD, but it hadn't been announced yet so he had to play it off?

Mason keeps polite and then somehow adds darius Maddox to the backcourt? That is potentially the best backcourt that I can remember.

Don't get me wrong....I'm hoping for the best as I always do after these events. But I felt the event was quite similar to the previous ones I've been to with KE and DP. Except that this time there was no mention of the need to re-recruit current members of the team.

That's probably because multiple key guys are already gone and Ronnie and Malik are already on record as coming back. Dinkins and Peter Odoro were at the presser and maybe a couple of others that I didn't recognize.

In fairness, I should say that some of the good vibes of this event may have been enhanced by the reception afterwards for season ticket holders and Patriot Club members. I think I would have remembered if they had done that before. This time each of the Final 4 starters (minus Will) mingled in the crowd. That was a BIG positive for many, including me.

Indeed it was quite awkward. Actually, my first thought was that he forgot her name, which would be a major gaffe and not typical of him. Perhaps you're right, but I've been under the impression that she indicated she wasn't interested in taking it on as a permanent assignment.

I think the closing date listed in the ad is coming up fairly soon and I don't think they would make any announcement prior to that date.

I don't usually agree with Leesburg here, but I think he's hit it on the head. The alumni presence, the way Tony conducted himself with a very short and sweet statement. He's ready to get to work.

I think he was supposed to give the mic back to Bill to give her a proper introduction, but instead we had that awkward handoff. I wouldn't read more into it than that.

Ojiako was also there with the other players mentioned. Also really cool to see Jason Miskiri there. He seemed to indicate he was all in on supporting Tony and the team going forward.

I was not impressed after hearing her speak during the MTE games. But I have heard since that she is well liked by coaches and families.

If she is great with relationships but not with microphones, I'm okay with that. Leadership can come in different forms.

I thought she did fine speaking, but the AD needs a major shake up, and hiring someone who has been there for 20 years is not the right move.

I am sure she is a lovely person. But that is not what we need at the point.

Keep in mind that the vision for the university comes from the president. It’s the AD’s job to execute the vision.

No idea if she would make a good AD, by the way.

I am working on making sure the posts are ordered right, hopefully we can do that. @HoopsAdmin

I'll change that to the Welcome thread when we know who the new AD is.
