Miller has a nice looking shot. Not a super quick release, but smooth and releases the ball at a high point.

Wilson without question has the most underrated long-range shot on the team, but I’d actually argue that Hartwell has the nicest stroke. Unfortunately, he’s just too short to get a lot of open looks on his own, and he often ends up rushing, compromising his form or shooting from further out (like NBA distance). I really think he’d be a lot more consistent if we actually ran some designed plays to get him some cleaner looks (what a concept!).

Greene just seems to get too much loft on his shot — which makes him erratic —and Miller always seems reluctant like taking a 3 is his last option. The thing I love about Wilson is he doesn’t second guess himself. He’s confident in his stroke and has no qualms about taking a 3 if he has an open look. We need more guys with his swagger and versatility on this team.

I’m telling you right now if AJ got all of Reuter’s minutes last year even at the 5 we would have been a better team. He would have fouled out every game but he would have also been a 9 6 and 2 blocks player

The biggest change in my mind isn’t the plays that AJ is making, but the mistakes he isn’t making. He is shooting more which adds to the increase in scoring, but in previous years he would cost us just as many points as he scored by his mistakes. He has cleaned up that part of his game which has made the biggest impact.

Seriously? AJ, until whatever clicked in his head this year...would foul out in under 15 minutes if you did try to leave him in. Plus I am sure the pretty astute coaches of the A-10 that would see that in scouting would have their game plan adjusted to take advantage.......

That’s not true considering he averaged about 12 mpg and 1.9 fouls in those minutes. But what is true is he often went for the hero play on both sides of the ball and those decisions didn’t turn out so well often enough that he probably wasn’t a 25+ mpg player his first two seasons.

Paulsen could have been more patient with him, especially when he was having good games, and done more to put him in a good position to succeed. But let’s not get hyperbolic abou how foul prone he was either.

You’re right. He would have fouled out, but who cares if he’s going to ride the bench anyway. I don’t really recall Mason getting into to many bonus issues.

He definitely would have fouled out playing 30 mpg last year... but the issue was he never even had the chance to do so because the game plan was so stringent and inflexible Paulsen didn't let that go as a lesson to AJ. The Richmond game last year was the epitome of showing how much of a bonehead Paulsen really is. just rewatch that and tell me AJ didn't deserve more mins throughout last season

Here's a few things that struck me in looking at AJ's Kenpom numbers from year-to-year:

• TO rate is down (lower) by about 20% from last year, 16.2% vs 12.8%
• Assist rate is up by a lot: 1.9% last yr vs. 7.6%
• Block % is essentially the same: 13.4 % last yr vs 13.6%
• Fouls committed per 40 minutes is significantly better--3 yr trend: 6.5; 5.9; 3.1
• Free throw % is only marginally better: 57.1 vs 60.7

Agreed. Truth be told, we don't have any shooters with great form like Lamar Butler. I do think if you held a shooting contest, Hartwell would win. His biggest obstacle is his height, which sadly more often than not does affect his form and accuracy.

I think once Hartwell gets back to 100% we will see his made 3pt fg's increase. If its not injury its sickness for this team. smh.
