I'm not buying it that these are just vcu fans. There are Mason fans who continue to express their support for Hewitt on this board. And, I'm sure there were GT fans who continued to support Hewitt until he was fired.

You mean beyond Hewitt's immediately family?

2 more losses under his belt since the previous poll, and his confidence rating is up, at nearly 40%?
There are more Yes votes this week then last?
I admittedly was undecided last week so I didn't vote.
However, there has been nothing in past week to sway me to vote Yes.
Yet, we have more Yes votes.
Either people are

A) Coming out of the woodwork to vote Yes, or
B) Hewitt is gaining peoples confidence as the season lingers on.

Maybe a lot of the players are rallying around him as a sign of support. Whether it was justified or not, I'm sure most of them didn't take too kindly to hearing some people booing their coach.

So you're insinuating that players are on these boards voting in support of their coach in an unanimous poll?

Just floating out a theory since Brian already took the option that it's the athletic department.

I posed this question in the Paul Hewitt thread. I suggest those of you who are voting yes to consider it. Apparently, most of you like to be anonymous and that is your choice. So even if you don't want to respond to the my question with a post, I urge you to honestly answer it to yourself.

What A10 teams do you think would be better off if Hewitt was their coach instead of their current coach?

I can't come up with more than one or two. I would argue that if you can't come up with at least 6 (to at least put us at the middle of the A10), then you really are not being logical with your vote.

Keep in mind that the number of registered members on this board (currently 196) is increasing. Some of these members will never post, but will vote in these polls (possibly for the first time).

However surprising and logic defying, I suppose that this is the intent of the poll (as long as the voting's legit)..

Guess I'll post this here. There is a powerhouse matchup on ESPNU right now - Texas Southern vs. Ark- Pine Bluff. I didn't know Mike Davis was the coach at TSU. I had also forgotten that he, like Hewitt, made it to the NC game. (In 2002, against Maryland)

I found it I interesting that he took his UAB teams to 3 NIT's and an NCAA tournament in 6 years and it got him canned. He had 4 20 win seasons in a row at UAB before going 15-16 in his last year and getting the boot. Hmmm, just makes me wonder what standards GMU will hold Hewitt to. I have to think that the decision at UAB had to be due more than just wins and losses w/ Davis making the NIT or NCAA in four of six years. Baffles me a bit.

I know there are quite a few folks who have a case of "mistaken identity" and have upwards of 20 accounts (most were used for trolling, which doesn't negate the theory since the main accounts are rarely used). They know who they are, but since this poll is anonymous, I want it to stay that way, and I'm way too lazy to crawl around in the database doing queries -- I have no idea if that's influencing the results.

So will he stay as a walk-on, or are we giving him a scholarship? Just trying to figure out the head count for next year.

I can't see him being a scholarship player. I still think Anali graduates and leaves and they look for another person to fill his spot...maybe one of those graduate student types like Terrance Shannon at vcu or Mo Creek at GW.

Have my fingers crossed that this happens. A stud SG transfer perhaps?

I would be skeptical of a 5th year transfer. Most of our team checks out in the 2nd half of games, 2nd half of seasons. A 5th year kid is likely to check out after 3 games under this coach. As long as Hewitt is here, we screwed for an additional 5 years rollling over for every year he's still here.

Id certainly love that. The team next year will be very young, so having an older guy would certainly help.
