So, we are up to 14 yes votes, but the silence surrounding what the yes voters are confident in is deafening. I guess it must be like most voting, not much analysis is put into it. Just vote for the guy because you hope he will succeed, regardless of the evidence...

I was one of the yes votes at the time....was it sure fire confidence absolutely not, but after playing with more passion against st.joes, umass, and Rhody, than in previous games, there was some there.

Offensively we are playing much better. (Can't comment on the Fordham game cause I didn't watch). Some around here were convinced that Sherrod was done/checked out, umm nope, he is out of his slump, back up to around 15 per in conf. Play. Jenkins is a beast and has gotta be out there 30 mins a game.

We also need tighten up the free throw an PF differential, it has killed us lately. Coach or players issue. Who knows?

Ugh typing this up on a tablet is tiring.

With those couple of things being said our defense blows, inside and outside. HK and Birutus made fools out of our bigs. Some of the attempts at help side defense are laughable, so opponents get to the lane with ease.

One stat I have been looking at lately is off. & def. rating for each player. Pretty interesting. Two things I noticed, 1. we miss Arledge more than I thought we would 2. Most of our players have a higher (worse) def rating this year compared to last (maybe that is from the change in how refs are calling games)

Force me to take this poll after Fordham, I am probably a no. Too many big blown leads, dumb mistakes, and please keep an effing time out in your back pocket for once, heaven forbid u take one back to the locker room after the game.

Raider, I appreciate your analysis. I agree we have looked a little better recently (other than the outcome). My main counter would be that the same guys have been playing together for 1.5 years (and Jenkins output is a wash for arledge). This team should be working much better together, as a team. Instead they look like a bunch of good athletes playing a disorganized pick up game. That aspect has to be on Hewitt. If it takes him 1.5 years to get a group working together, we are doomed for the long run.

And the outcome of several of our recent games can be laid squarely on Hewitt and his bizarre rotations and time management at the end of games. We were in those games until we went to his equivalent of the prevent defense.

Doesn't really seem like a wash to me, as both would be here and could be on the court at the same time. That is if Jenkins would have gotten enough PT to show Hewitt what he could do since JA would have been a big minutes eater.

Would this team look any better under a new coach, maybe, but from what I have watched, I am not so sure. Sherrod is still not going to be able to dribble unless he is powering to the basket new coach or not., so many other things but it's too damn late.

It is hard to disagree with a lot of what has been posted about coach around here the last couple of weeks. Though most of it has been rehashed, over & over & over by the same people, just with more vigor and !!!!!!'s.

Here's hoping for a win streak so we can have some + stuff on the boards to talk about.

What I meant by a wash is that compared to having the identical team to last year. We had Arledge last year, but not Jenkins. Arledge was wildly inconsistent, except for the last several games. I'd take Jenkins in a heartbeat over Arledge if it was a choice between the two.

As for Wright, he appears to have regressed in a way. As even gmutom has pointed out, a better coach would put him in a position to succeed instead of rotations that ensure that he (and Allen) are in scenarios that highlight their weaknesses (making them, essentially, play point guard or playing an offense that requires top notching dribbling skills).

I'll keep cheering them on in games, but my hope has been exhausted after watching the 2.5 years of steady regression as a team.

Given Marko, J2 and Copes struggles I think we would have seen Jenkins get into the starting lineup about the same time with or without Arledge. If Arledge could have maintained his late season form it would have been a formidable frontcourt.

His defense wasn't the best, but he knew how to use his length to bother shooters, he had decent footwork defending the baseline especially and didn't go swatting at everything.

It's really a shame we couldn't have seen them on the court together.

I was under that general impression about JA as well, but we seemed to play better defense with him on the floor.

I know individual stats can be misleading but he was one of the tops on the team in Def. rating last year. while leading the team in Off rating.

Team points scored(off) or allowed(def) while on the floor per 100 possessions.

Seriously, we need a census report/roll call for "Realville."
Member since 2013....Funny enough it was during a game we won. I knew we had serious issues when we played Richmond last year and we continuously doubled down against a team with 4 stiffs in the frontcourt and several long range sharpshooters. Dumbest strategy ever....until it continued.

I am officially a NO.

Can't take it anymore. The cumulative effect (more so than today's loss) has gotten to me...
Count me in as well :bricks:
I think I liken it to my wife telling our 9 yr old daughter this year that Santa is a farce. She was upset all night and didn't come out of her room. I asked her why and she said it's cause we'd lied to her and that she felt like there was no more Christmas spirit. So I did the only natural thing and told her that we were kidding, that he is real. She was fine after that. Best Christmas ever.

I want to believe. I don't want to lose the spirit.
BBall season only comes around once a year.

Where's the new poll at.
I'm now a No.

TOC oughta read the caption underneath the picture when considering Hewitt's future at Mason. "When Georgia Tech's slide started, Paul Hewitt struggled to stop it."

One thing in that article that I think is good to note is that players on his team did not like people disrespecting the coach at the game. I will probably not stop being critical of Hewitt on these boards, and may even make some phone calls to the athletic department towards the end of the season, but the Fire Hewitt chants I heard loud and clear yesterday are, in my opinion, an embarrassment.

Thanks for clarifying the "Fire Hewitt" chants, because I wasn't sure what the students were chanting. I believe that you raise an interesting issue. Is there any appropriate way for fans (including students) to express their displeasure at these games?

I dont have an issue with Fire Hewitt chants......not at all. Get paid what he gets paid, you should be held accountable. If not from the AD, the fans will let you know. Frankly, I was hoping somebody went up to the GW fans and got them started on a Fire Hewitt chant.

If he cant handle some jeers from the fans, not sure coaching is a good match for you anyway.

If I were a student, I would likely be participating in the "Fire Hewitt" chants to express my displeasure for the coaching. But, I believe that patriot2000 is concerned about the adverse impact on the players. So, try looking at it from the players' standpoint.

Yeah, DI coaches make so much money to do what they do - it comes with the territory. Anything he has to deal with here won't come close to Georgia Tech.

I get that angle too, and I really dont have a problem with it. They arent Hewitt, and quite frankly I would assume some of them have their own opinions on Hewitt and don't mind the chants or think they are off base.
