Not sure how you could like Nike or UA when this is what Adidas is all about. Plus the fact the Green Machine is totally missing an opportunity to add to their playlist, get some new swag and endorse the official outfitter....

Walk through concert doors
And roam all over coliseum floors
I stepped on stage, at Live Aid
All the people gave an applause that paid
And out of speakers I did speak
I wore my sneakers but I'm not a sneak
My Adidas cuts the sand of a foreign land
With mic in hand I cold took command
My Adidas and me both askin P
We make a good team my Adidas and me
We get around together, rhyme forever
And we won't be mad when worn in bad weather
My Adidas
My Adidas
My Adidas

Standin on 2 Fifth St.
Funky fresh and yes cold on my feet
With no shoe string in em, I did not win em
I bought em off the Ave with the tags still in em
I like to sport em that's why I bought em
A sucker tried to steal em so I caught em and I thwart em
And I walk down the street and I bop to the beat
With Lee on my legs and Adidas on my feet
And now I just standin' here shooting the gif
Me and D and my Adidas standing on 2 Fifth
My Adidas
My Adidas

Now
Me and my Adidas do the illest things
We like to stomp out pimps with diamond rings
We slay all suckers who perpetrate
And lay down law from state to state
We travel on gravel, drit road or street
I wear my Adidas when I rock the beat
On stage front page every show I go
It's Adidas on my feet high top or low
My Adidas
My Adidas

Now the Adidas I possess for one man is rare
Myself homeboy got fifty pair
Got blue and black cause I like to chill
And yellow and green when it's time to get ill
Got a pair that I wear when I'm playin' ball
With the heal inside make me ten feet tall
My Adidas only bring good news
And they are not used as selling shoes
They're black and white, white with black stripe
The ones I like to wear when I rock the mic
On the strength of our famous university
We took the beat from the street and put it on TV
My Adidas are seen on the movie screen
Hollywood knows we're good if you know what I mean
We started in the alley, now we chill in Cali
And I won't trade my Adidas for a ??
My Adidas

I like Nike, but I'm more interested in this from a recruiting perspective and an athletics department perspective. Specifically, how does it effect recruiting (some kids only go to schools their AAU team was sponsored by, for example) and how does it effect the athletic budget bottom line (translation: what are we paid). I still don't know exactly how much adidas is paying us and how much Nike or UA offered.

Looks like we get $160,000 in free gear plus bonuses if our basketball, soccer, baseball and softball teams actually succeed (somewhere between $5,000 to $35,000 bonus for making the tournament depending on the team). Bonuses also for advancing in the tournament.

It's too bad they didn't include volleyball and track and field in there, since those are our only successful teams right now.

So they don't even pay us? We just get free gear? Our unpaid college athletes have to be a billboard for adidas for four years and they just get some free kicks? Actually, sorry, got off track. Whole other discussion.

Don't they get 6,200 a year stipend now?

Yes, unless they go to the tournament the school gets nothing.

Compared to what the athletes bring in to a university $6200 is barely scratching the surface. CBS sold $1.13billion (with a B) worth of ads during March Madness in 2015. But that's none of my business.

Students kicked in 14.3 million to athletics last year, the school kicked I. 6 million to keep it in the black, overall the school is subsidizing 80% of the athletics budget.

Mason is splitting 25% of the A10's 2015 take among 11 different schools. That's not millions by any stretch of the imagination. If you want to kill athletics at Mason, professionalize DI men's basketball.

Hey guys,

let's not focus on this. Adidas is fine because their check cleared. Nike didn't sweeten and widen the deal to cover all Mason sports so *shrug* it is what it is.

If we can start winning in Soccer, Baseball and Basketball again we can maybe attract a better deal from Nike, UA or even adidas again once this deal is up. Let's focus on ensuring our programs continue to succeed and grow.

Did y'all donate today?

What year does the Adidas deal end?

Remember the Deadspin article on Nike selling Final Four merchandise for UF, UCLA, and LSU...but not us. Link follows:
http://deadspin.com/163531/nike-has-no-love-for-gmu
Amazingly the picture of the 3 Nike Final Four t-shirts has disappeared from the article. Moving away from Nike doesn't bug me, they pull stunts all the time.

I assume it's from what Nike thought would see. Not that it changes your point, but UCLA was an adidas school at the time.

Once the five year deal is over, I will talk to Paulsen about moving back to Nike.

I doubt very seriously that it's his call. I'm sure he'll be asked how he likes the product and the vendor and all of that, but at the end of the day it's a financial decision that BE (and probably AC) will determine.

Bucknell is Adidas, too, so it could be a situation where Paulsen actually likes Adidas...who knows.
