Good luck to you Therence, keep working hard and you'll be fine.
Looks like he is going to NorthWest Florida State College. Can he come back to Mason the year after?
NWF State College is the defending NJCAA national champions. That is where Moustapha Diagne went as well (the Syracuse commit that the NCAA refused to clear due to questions about his coursework in his native Senegal).Looks like he is going to NorthWest Florida State College. The optimist in me says that Mayimba spends 2 years in JuCo, earns his associates degree to get the NCAA off his nutsack, then comes to Mason for his final 2 years and helps us make the Sweet 16 as a senior.
Oh wait. That was my inner meth-head talking.
Not sure that is possible since he would be 4 years out from his high school graduation date...wouldn't he be out of eligibility by then? Or only have 1 year? Not that it matters because it is already apparent he will never suit up at Mason.
Pretty clear I was making a lame attempt at a joke.
But just in case somebody wants to seriously consider this, Mayimba already has two semesters of college coursework under his belt. Depending on how many of his credits transfer, it's conceivable that he could earn his associates after 1 year at NWF.
Considering that the NCAA allows 5 years from HS graduation to complete your degree, I read that as he'd have 3 years of eligibility remaining.
I don't know whether something changes when you spend a year in a 4-year school before you go to a JUCO. It's obviously a highly unusual situation.
Regardless, it's extremely unlikely that he winds up back at Mason. DP doesn't seem to be a guy who is interested in recruiting JUCOs. Too bad.

Good for him.
Bleep the NCAA.
He might do what NWF State's Brandon Austin did and play a couple years of JUCO and then go pro, either NBA, or more likely Europe.I have a feeling Mayimba is never suiting up for a D-1 program.....

Why exactly?
They are sticklers for you being able to prove who you say you are.
