@mkaufman1 - Do you think the Ted Leonisis Monumental Sports relationship will play a role in bulldozing it/building a new one? We own it and they "manage it" correct?
Could You see a scenario where we play at the Washington Mystics arena for a year or two while a new Arena is built since Ted owns the Mystics or do you think that would be too far for our fanbase?

As with so many things …The state of VA paid for our arena. I’m pretty sure they paid for JMU’s and a good chunk of UVA’s as well. If we showed a need for a new one, I’d guess they’d pay for it, but that gets tricky. It is not so old as UVA’s old arena and not too small to hold convocation like JMU’s. We are in a weird middle spot right now.
TERRIBLE idea!!! We shouldn't be playing home games out-of-state!
I could see that as a temporary solution while a new arena is built/given the Monumental Sports relationship.
Whether or not the fanbase would want to schlep over there for a year or 2 is another question.

Season ticket holders and students only in the RAC.Let's see YOUR idea @ProfessorCFK so I can throw a meme in your face and greet you with rejection!
Big League Chew? How about Big Red Arena? Of course, we might have to change our colors ... or maybe not, just use a red and call it a green. After all, there are no color standards to be met for Mason.

EBA will not be shutdown for a significant period of time because of the lost revenue to the university. If they built a new arena they probably would have to have the new arena done first before EBA gets axed or whatever. That is probably why they havent' done a major upgrade, amongst various other reasons.
Season ticket holders and students only in the RAC is a better idea than moving it to SE DC, but I don't see either happening.
Lol you can't even get people in DC to go over there, let alone an already apathetic fanbase from VA. We would quite literally be better off in the RAC.

With how big NoVa has gotten, there really does need to be a modern arena in the area, even if Cap One is so close. That's probably the pitch you would need to make to get state funding, but the problem there is that VA probably wouldn't be too happy with any sort of capacity reduction. The state of VA paid for our arena. Speaking as someone who's gone to Hershey games since he was six, Ted doesn't have the capital to buy off the Bears from the Trust. With how big NoVa has gotten, there really does need to be a modern arena in the area, even if Cap One is so close. You *could* attempt to parlay the relationship with Monumental into getting a Caps affiliate to play at a new arena as minor league hockey teams tend to move/change affiliation a lot, although it looks like the Caps AHL team is a pretty entrenched fixture in Hershey. Maybe the team in SC?
The idea was thrown out there. I think if this athletic village is actually legit, you could throw a basketball arena within that space. If you could just keep building off the practice facility it would even be better so you have a one stop shop as a player and fan.Maybe this was already said....but could having two arenas, one at 10k seats, and another at 5k seats bring more events/revenue in? Or do an indoor field for cricket/soccer/ bball. Wheel in the grass like the Raiders.
I actually have missed some of your posts Verdad. This a good one.
I wouldn't rely on Reddit for getting a pulse of something. If GMU Reddit is a reflection of current students’ attitudes on basketball and the new practice facility, then they suck.
Oh they absolutely suck. Not surprised, it’s another tale as old as time that students piss and moan about anything on campus that even resembles progress. F them.If GMU Reddit is a reflection of current students’ attitudes on basketball and the new practice facility, then they suck.
